Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

What's a hobby farm?

Is it like an English second-home cottage by the sea, but Oz-sized?
exactly....
With Snakes and Spiders.

A small property to escape to...12 acres...and yes..spiders. 6ft. Mice that bound and snakes, but what could possibly go wrong..

Spent the weekend up the North Coast. Braved Storm Kathleen and had walks on four beaches. Portstewart Strand, West Bay Portrush, Runkerry Port Ballintrae and White Park Bay. Quieter this weekend after Easter. Truly is a lovely part of the Country.

Looks ab fab Chris. :inlove::inlove::inlove:

Never been across the water to NI, but looking to do so this year. I'll be posting on here looking for advice on places to see/stop and things to do, so hoping you'll be able to share your local knowledge.

@Bav North Coast is a favourite of ours...Bushmills Portrush Portstewart area. Ballycastle one side of that and Castlerock and Benone the other! It's looking great to be honest.

Lots of money been spent on different view points and seems to have new places popping up to eat and drink. We're lucky to have so much only a short drive away! We did more touristy things this weekend, easy to take for granted! Kids loved it which made it all worthwhile also.

A few nights away just outside Holmfirth, Last of the summer wine country. Nice clean site with a decent Italian restaurant around the corner. Into Holmfirth tomorrow to be a tourist. :sneaky:
We stayed there in early February, our first trip in our own van, and yes the restaurant a short walk away (Devour?) was excellent too.

You’re only 2 miles from our house. Holmfirth is great. Have a great time. Devour is an excellent place to eat. Glad you found it.

After three days at Sagres we’ve moved up the coast to Setubal, onto the eco Parque campsite. One of the better city type sites with a view of the sea and beaches. And for €13 all in I’m not complaining.IMG_6405.jpegIMG_6404.jpeg
And Sagres pic too

@Bigsidavies. Is that EcoParque do Outão? I just googled campsites near Setubal and that was the first hit and seems to have good reviews. How do you rate the facilities? I ask as we're likely to be headed that way come June and from the reviews it looks to have good public transport access to Lisbon (having been there a few times for work, I don't particularly want to go back but my wife wants to tick it off her list!).

Yes it’s the Outao one. It’s very peaceful but pretty empty. Pitches are ok size. Could put a canopy up or small awning, although the hard standing looks pretty……hard.
Nearby beach looks ok through the binos-not ventured out yet.
Lady on reception said to avoid bus into Setúbal as it’s unreliable and recommended an über. Not sure what the transport from Setúbal to Lisbon is like but I’d think pretty good.
Drove through Setúbal and it’s pretty big, a city apparently.
Going to drive in there later for a few hours wandering round.
Good thing about here is once you choose your pitch it’s yours, so can go out and come back and it won’t have been taken over by someone.
First toilet block is old and tired, but clean. Second toilet block is very nice and new.
Quite shaded by trees, which means I might have to go and pay for EHU later.
I think we will probs do another night.

@Bigsidavies. Thanks for that - it's always good to have recommendations. As to transport to Lisbon, I didn't read any reviews too closely but I'm sure that I saw one of them referring to trains from Setubal every 20 minutes. You mentioned the hard standing looking really hard - unless it's hard as in concrete, I've got half a dozen 12" rebar pegs and a lump hammer that should take care of it!

I have some strong pegs and a hammer, however it’s high winds today, hence van being nose in facing the rear of my pop top towards the wind, so can’t be arsed trying to battle the canopy. Plus I’m taking the van into Setabul shortly.
