Which eBike?

I’m big boned myself, I think either would probably work... yours had 29 inch wheels right?

Correct.

Also the smaller 17" frame allows the seat post to be higher, so I can fit a tool kit seat bag thingy.
Maybe with a 19" frame and the seat post lower, this would not be possible?

Choices, choices...

Hi All,

I am currently looking at eBikes and am coming to it with a limited knowledge and would welcome some advice as i know there are some keen cyclists on here.

Brands that I have looked at are Cube and Haibike. The drive system I am looking at is Bosch Performance CX GEN4, 85Nm, 25km/h with 625wh battery.

The type of use will be road, park, woodland, occasional cross country, occasional foothills/mountain trails - nothing too extreme.

I understand there is the potential for the Govt to introduce a 1/3 subsidy in the Spring and have been waiting to hear more on that. Additionally, there is the cycle2work scheme which allows upto a 42% saving - the only downside is having to purchase through Halfords or Tredz.com. The search option on the cycle2work website does not bring up other independent options at the moment. Does anyone have any experience of the cycle2work scheme?

many thanks in advance.

CZ.
I've just gone for the Cube 160 2021. Waiting to collect.

Have been looking into the specs I would want on and off for a few more days and they ideally are:
  • Bosch Performance CX drive, Gen 4 motor with 625w battery
  • 29 inch wheels
  • Standard set-up on everything else
  • Mud guards and pannier rack
If I wasn’t tied to the cycle2work scheme I would probably go for,

Haibike Hardnine 10
Haibike | HardNine 10 | 29

Otherwise, as detailed earlier, it’s either:

Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro 625
CUBE Reaction Hybrid Pro 625 29 black´n´grey

Or

Haibike Hardnine 7 (Yamaha PW-ST, 630w)
Haibike | HardNine 7 | 29

The problem now is finding stock for near-term delivery…

Okay, have found a local shop that will be getting in a Hardnine 9 in July, Haibike | HardNine 9 | 29. It has the Bosch motor... they just can’t fix a final price due to Brexit and the variations in charges to import...

still searching...

Did you look at this one?
Cube CROSS HYBRID
PRO 500 ALLROAD
It’s a nice bike! But cant find any places online with a 20/21 model...

just found a co doing the cube with a couple coming in March... but not part of the cycle scheme...

Thanks too.. @moomin-j my head was turned after riding his bike..but the wife soon turned it back. However having read some useful web info ...the electric bike industry has not peaked and price’s remain high ...The battery and the range are secondary to making bikes lighter and more robust which helps to keep prices high ..that said they think the industry will in a few years will have reach the limit of technology and prices will flatten out ..but for the time being I’ll spend what little I can get away with on the van....incidentally do more flagpole lights fall into the category:inlove:

Found a place that ’should’ have the Cube Reaction pro 625 in March... so now its a choice between that or the Haibike Hardnine 9 that comes in July... hmmmm. Choices...

Any final thoughts from any one?
