Hi...what height is your van with this roof please? Have you made any other adjustments specifically with height in mind? Thanks
Most can and some companies will specify a load capacity. The SCA for example will take 70kg and has pre manufactured slots in the roof for the bars. Its more the limit of the gas struts as many people expect to be able to lift a full roof rack load when the gas struts are designed for the roof only. I have seen some roofs where the fibreglass is so thin the roof sags so these are obviously not suitable.Shame alot can't manage roof bars and weight
Are you happy with your roof? It seems from your July thread that you're an early adopter for them; just in the sproces of choosing my next roof (had WestDubs on out T5.1) and we're really after a lower profile than west dubs; looks like Vanmax might hit the sweet spot.I had a VanMax roof fitted which I love, pretty low and way cheaper than the Hi-Lo, also a guy I know fits hi-lo roof and he actually told me they aren’t worth the money for the quality. I’d also like to know! Not much online about vanmax roofs, but I’m just about to go ahead and book in for fitting at HVR conversions near Southampton.Hows it holding up now? Really interested in one of these. I also wanted a slimline and looked at HiLo but not for £6k!

I can’t find ANYTHING negative written about vanmax. And since they stopped fitting at HQ, fitting is now at their dealer network. HVR are closest to me. If vanmax are good and not fitting at hq then they need to bet and accredit their dealers/fitters.You only get one chance at cutting a hole in your roof, I’ve not heard much about Vanmax or HVR?
They just messaged me saying that HVR is closest to me. I've messaged HVR seeing when the nearest bookings are. I imagine there is quite a wait, there always seems to be with pop tops. Cant wait to get one.I’d also like to know! Not much online about vanmax roofs, but I’m just about to go ahead and book in for fitting at HVR conversions near Southampton.
I had a vanmax fitted in Sept. Myself and Tuffers were in conversation about our choices as I had been to vanmax hq and also to Halifax Camper Conversions. Are you happy with your roof? Just the two straps at the front. I think that’s the norm. It’s just the Hilo that has the rear fastenings I think.Does anyone have any pics of the vanmax strengthening frame? Also, is it just the 2 straps at the front or are there also locking mechanism at the rear?
thank youMike I’ve just gone through this too.
move ended up with Vanmax. It’s at HVR this week being done. I’ll let you know how I get on!
