Which Swivel seats to pick

Not had any issue with my passager sport craft swivel (nut on top) Clearly there must be some made better than others?

I also have Sportscraft swivels (nut on top) on both front seats and have no problems with creaking/rattling etc

2020 Any worthy additions? Looking to get one for my passenger captain seat and am wondering which one would be best?

Hello @Rg_ still no issues with our Sportscraft ones, passenger one is really easy to swivel and ours are the nut on top ones so you can fit a load of electrics underneath if needs be

Thanks that sounds good. I'll check them out. Do you have a drivers one too?

Yes have both @Rg_ ,the drivers one is a bit more awkward to get round, seat needs a couple of adjustments but once you have done it half a dozen times you soon get the hang of it

I have just ordered a pair of Sportscraft swivels, both singles and both with the inverted centre bolt for more room underneath. Kiravans never seem to be in stock so I jumped at the chance to buy the Sportscraft when I found them.
I'll let you know how they are although the supplier has said that the batch they received from SC came without fasteners so I have to wait for the next delivery....
I guess there is no rush.

Hi, I’m in the same boat looking at SPORTSCRAFT as kiravans out of stock permanently. I think lockdown camper builds have thinned out all the stock too.
I have found a place with them in stock, but they don’t make a distinction between passenger/driver where other sites do. Anyone else know if there is a difference?

I'm not sure that the actual plate is different but my drivers side kit came with a handbrake lowering bracket. This may be the only difference.

Fitted mine to my passenger seat and it did come with what looked like the handbrake kit? Guessing the base is identical for both sides?

greetings, was about to buy the Kiravan or the Sportscraft ones but have been put off by the rocking and rattling claims on here. Are there any other manufacturers out there who do driver and passenger ones without need for modifications like trimming plastic etc?

Roos Kiravans double swivel doesnt rock or rattle. Sounds like the corner clamps havent been screwed down?

Thanks Phil G, would you recommend the offset version or the standard, I am worried the offset would be more prone to rattle?

I went down the Rusty Lee swivel due to the TUV certification they have.

Easy to fit, although bloody heavy. Very stiff when first fitted but I guess they are all like this when new.

Also consider batteries, subs or anything else that you may want under the swival as a large nut on the underside may affect this..
Also, rear plastic trim may need cutting to all for the swival..

Agree with @Fish, I had to cut the rear plastic that clips on the back of the passenger seat mount. Easy enough to do, slowly cut it back until it fits nicely.

Thank you Texxaco - whats the handbrake bracket required? can you not fit this without the bracket?

I have only fitted the passenger seat swivel so far @Badger but from what I can see you will need to lower the handbrake lever, again though looks very easy.

Make sure if you do go down the lowering handbrake route you adjust the cable to take up the slack in the cable due to the handbrake being lower.

RIB swivels need the lower trims to be modified to give full movement. REIMO do not. I have not seen a driver swivel which does not need modification to the handbrake, its just too high in standard position. Oem swivels are good if you can find one. People raise seat up to avoid the handbrake or use a lowering bracket. Both options are not good. We modify handbrake and refit oem plastics so it looks factory.:thumbsup:

Hi thank you - RIB swivels are the Kiravans ones? I drive with the seat height at the highest setting as I have long legs. So will I have an issue with the handbrake coming in the way when I swivel the seat from that height? I don’t want to trim anything if I can avoid it. Don’t see the point of buying a factory build van to then start shaving off bits‍♂️ Does the handbrake only come in the way of the swivel at the highest setting? I wanted the option of a factory swivel but meant I couldn’t have the height adjustment.

I have a pair of RIB offset swivels. Both seats have shims to raise the seats up. I'm 6'3, wife is 5'5, doesn't bother either of us. No issue with handbrake. Have to put it down but can then swivel fine. Haven't trimmed any plastic either
