Right, the cursed van is at it again... After spending the last week tidying up various leaks and stains with the trusty brake cleaner to find the sources, I have ran into another issue....
I noticed one of the bolts behind the EGRpipe(?) was soaked in oil. I thought right away that the joint...
Mine same a couple of weeks ago with service and MOT - failed for splitEGRpipe - MOT description said putting exhaust fumes in cab - so I’m glad they spotted it - I thought it was just doing a regen as did a lot of them before as short journeys then a few longer - funny now does not do as many!
Hi all, I had a PO46C00 fault code on my VW T6 102 67 pleate euro 6. Had some diagnostics done and EGR wasn't functioning and rear flexi pipe had split. Replaced the EGR unit, intercooler and pipe. Van drove well for about a mile and the light has come back on the dash with a loss of power...
Check EGR rear and front pipes for splits or leaks, very common. Here’s a search on forum regarding the pipes: Search results for query: egrpipe

Battery is reading at 14.9 when idling and 12.3 when off .
Went into garage and I have a small split in the long EGRpipe - so new one ordered . Could this potentially cause this fault ?
I had the same code recently, garage I took the van to reckoned readings didn’t suggest a clogged EGR, on further investigation he found a split in the EGR to exhaust manifold rear pipe which he replaced along with new gaskets. He did show me the part complete with split.
Time will tell but so...
The answer to your question is a bit irrelevant, the point is you can't really start fault finding or diagnostics until you have rectified all known defects.
Let us know how you get on, hopefully fixing the splitpipe will get your van back to how it should be.
you sure its not a splitEGRpipe in the engine bay? (final exhaust fuses shouldnt smell very bad due to the cat and dpf)
but the EGRpipesplitting is a very common issue . . . and yours is a 2018 so prime candidate.
I've had mine done on bot 2018 and 2017 vans...
My rear EGRPipe indeed has split, probably some 3 months ago. Just holding my hand behind it, I could feel a strong warm air blow. Just to make sure it wasn’t air from the cooling fan that I was feeling, I confirmed it by sniffing on my hand, which had strong diesel/exhaust fumes to it. No...
