AdBlue Discussion and Issues

MFD said to refill as (1400miles left on adblue) All 10l went in ! i was surprised as it looked like tank would have had more!

@Oldrat as far as I'm aware you'll screw up the emissions control systems, end up with multiple engine faults recorded and probably void the warranty on the engine and emissions system because it will be tracked that you failed to refill the Ad blue. Not a happy prospect.
EDITED: Apologies, wasn't aware of the intervening replies.

Given the fact the tank doesnt know its been filled up on most occasions I doubt VW would ever be able to void a warranty from this ha

Yes they would, as it would probably log the fail to start reason due to attempt at being started without emissions system active.. Would you want to run the risk to prove a point with the cost of a dpf etc.. Ha

I like to prove a point but on this one im just going to adblue hahahahah

Just a shame there are jack shit adblue stations anywhere near me, can be bothered having a container using up the limited boot space.

They advise that you don't carry a container in the vehicle.

You don't need to fill that often so just keep a 10L in garage and put it all in when the range gets down to 1500 miles, simples. Then replace it at your leisure.

@PukkaT6 did you try using the search link kindly provided by @Polzeylad ? I did and checked Warrington and it listed a number of sites. They may not be on your door step but they are out there. I'm pretty sure that you can find one handy to your commute if you try.

Weird as the first link said nothing found under warrington and the second shows a handful and nothing what I consider close or on my usual route - I suppose its an excuse to go for a drive ;)

TBH By the time my van arrives and I need to top up there will most likely be alot more garages selling adblue as seems more manufacturers are using it.

I don't think dpf is covered under warranty no matter what. It is a filter, and these are excluded. They also have wear and tear clause to fall back on. Petrol transporter can't come soon enough..

Seem to be making my own. Went downtown Wales a couple of weeks ago along the A44 and on the way it from 3000 miles to 2500. Came home along the M4 and it came back to 3000 miles again. Went to see an old mate in Witney on Friday and it changed back to 2500. Did not give it much thought so went off to Wales later in the day back along the A44 and home the M4 checked the Ashlie as we got home and it's back to 3000 miles, really weard

@Roadrunner when you stop for a tiddle at the roadside it's a nearside wheel that you use not that nicely positioned tube with a cap on under the "privacy flap"

It's not a fixed consumption it varies based on driving conditions.
so am I correct in thinking then when I tow my caravan with a full van, to France (Lyon and back) my adblue range could considerably drop or even run out! Or is it, how long is a piece of string voodoo magic?

Towing is likely to produce a much steadier consumption. Depending on how far you intend to go and how much you have to start with will determine whether of not you need to fill up on your journey.

Thanks, it is around 750 there with fully laden van and caravan and 750 back with more in the back with another 500 touring around while the there.
