I like that combo.. and the wheel/bolt pattern is symmetrical which satisfies my OCD and they look easy to clean being nicely spaced out.

hmmm tempted

5 Spokes (or 5 splits) and easy to clean were my 2 main criteria. I saw some lovely 6 spoke wheels but.........

Guys,

Got to make a shout out for the people I just taken delivery of my new wheels and tyres from.
John Brown Wheels. ( JBW )

They have the steel 18" that look just like the Amarok steels but these are 8J, not 7.5 (And we all know half an inch makes all the difference!) ;) ET45 offset so fairly standard, so I'll see how they look before I look for any spacers.
£395 inc vat and delivery. I also asked about tyres they don't list on their website and they beat a local quote I had for Toyo Open Country tyres at £70 + vat each.
The wheels are already well painted and laquered so no need to have them coated. IMO, better than the standard imported Amarok steels which will need coating.

All balanced and with metal valves and caps.

They list these on eBay but not on their website, so for those wondering if the eBay seller is decent, Yes I dealt with them over the phone and a pallet turned up today making me a happy boy! :)
They do Silver and Black Pepper Pot and Smoothie style.

And no I'm not on commision but just thought I'd say, cos these are my "Iv'e got new wheels" wheels...

I'll stick some pics on over the weekend when they I've put them on...
Have a good weekend all.

Oooh, steel wheel porn. They look gorgeous.
Pics on the van please.
I've just had my standard steels powder coated in black and they look great. 18's would be cool.... Just wish I had a spare £800...

Currently running General Grabber AT3. Love the look but just concerned about the clearance. Not noticed any major issues even on unmade tracks however if loaded and on full lock on an uphill gradient there’s a bit of rubbing. Also calibration out by approx 10%. Uphills are a bit laborious however it cruises downhill like nothing else.
Bit of extra lean into the corners and acceleration down even on on a remap to 170bhp.
Keen to know if anyone else has taken the plunge and whether they’ve stuck with it.

What size are they and is your bus lowered? Quite a few on here are running all terrains without problems including the Grabbers, mine are goin on tomorrow hopefully. Yours do look awful tight though

Bigger than most. 255/60/18 No issue with speed ratings though 112h. Spacers fitted but no idea what size.

I’m no expert but I’m getting All Terrains because I go off road at work. I need clearance for wheel movement on uneven ground, they look look way too close to the body work to be effective off road, but if you have them just for looks then that’s been a different matter.

WOW they are big tyres.
I ran GG 255/55/18 on my T5, and I thought they were too big in terms of gearing and I had 255hp (Hybrid turbo etc etc etc )
The GG 235/55/18 are the maximum up-gearing I would personally consider, even with a 204BiTDI and carry light loads
But they do look good......:), and would work well off road (subject to clutch stress) imo.

Finally got mine sorted, I’m well pleased with them. No noticeable difference in sound or ride. Just in case you’re wondering they’re Dezent TE Dark with General Grabber AT3 235 55 18View attachment 41398View attachment 41399

Loving the look of those wheels mukka. It was a toss up for me between those and the Wolfrace x10x and went with the latter in the end. Just need to get some at3's when the tyres need replacing now

What PSI should I be running my AT3’s at? Silly question but is it the same as the VW recommendations, as my tyres are slightly bigger?

Well I've decided to go with the 225/65 R17 BFG KO2s for our trip around Aus :)

it's only a 4.76 % difference on the gearing and gives a 17mm lift to go with the 30mm Seikel lift on our van.

Booked in for fitting on Friday, hoping the spare fits, although i have a feeling it may have to be deflated, but that's all good, as we have a mounted ARB compressor for filling the tires after airing down.

will put up a pic once they are fitted and conformation of the spare fitting.

Well I just got back from getting the tyres fitted this morning, they look good and i can confirm that the 225/65 R17 KO2's do fit in the spare wheel carrier:thumbsup:

Ill takes some photos before we head off for the weekend to test them.
