Im looking to buy, its not my daily and do a lot of wales trips slightly off road when i do go.

How about 245/70/17?

Wheels are VW solace 7j x 17 and from a check online they are ET55.

way too big imo, for every reason I can think of.
235/65/17 is a big big tyre (Circumference/Diameter/ wise); and 245/70/17 is just a whole lot taller.

Thanks Chris. People are saying 245/65/17 are the max without a lift, is this correct for a T32 also do you know? That will rule out the 245/70's. Im thinking a set of Ko2s

With Stock height suspension 245/65/17 may work in terms of rubbing etc; but there are other considerations; such as the uplift in gearing/acceleration; braking/steering performance; the general feel and handling; the lift off the vehicle; just the general drivability.
What engine/gearbox have you got?

We are on 235/65/17 std height t30 base now with t32 rear springs . Works for us . No rubbing and reasonless stance in the arches

I’m currently on 225/45r18 and I want some AT as I used to have them on my truck.
My T6 is standard so was wondering what size tyres could I get away with to fill the massive gap between the wheel and arch........
This is keeping me awake at night haha PLEASE HELP

Thanks in advance

If you are currently running 225s, i'm guessing those wheels are around 7.5" wide, so i'd potentially look at something like the General Grabber AT3 on a 235/55/18 which is a nice chunky tyre. It might not fill that gap equally, but I can see what you mean, and it will loose a fair amount of it visually. Maybe consider some wheel spacers to bulk out the wheel even more, and possibly a set of the genuine VW arch kit. The arches will finish off a nice Swamper look, but also the Black arch against the Black tyre should give the illusion that there is more wheel/tyre as opposed to the Black tyre against the White arch if that makes sense.

Welcome to the forum and next time, careful asking opinions, because we can spend your money much faster than you can ;)

Hahaha thanks a lot for the advice mate, do you think 235/60r18 would fit?
I think I will get the spacers too bulk the tyres out. I did look at 255/55 but worried about rubbing on full lock

I understand your logic with 60 profiles, but it's a balance between trying to bulk out the wheel inside the huge arch and the wheels looking like you've just took them off a Range Rover and stuck them on a T6, which is never a great look. Most of the Swamper Transporters will run 55s or sometimes slightly lower profiles. Just remember the smaller the wheel, the bigger the tyre to achieve the Swamper look, which is why 16 and 17" is a far more popular choice than 18" but 18" can work just as well providing it's balanced with the correct profile tyres. Obviously this is just my opinion, and not a hard fast rule.

255s shouldn't catch the arch on those wheels, but 255s might bulge over the rim and look odd.

Have a scan through here for some idea of what I mean Off road wheels and tyres
