Covid-19: How is it affecting you?

How would anyone know if they actaully have it? If I have it then its not so bad, if I havnt then I could be wondering for the next few years. I have had cough for a while, not a bad cough, temperature up and down a little and breathing has been a little odd. I dont think it is it but its not put me in bed. People I speak to are saying I will be bed bound if I had it so to be honest it is probably just a normal cold but thats sort of the worrying point, you would never know and it could delay us getting back to work if every sniffle we are self isolating every time.
I have never gone to the docs with any colds etc

It depends on how effective your immune system is at creating anti bodies to fight it off...

People with a low or poor immune system need to take the most precautions.

As previous poster said its incredibly variable. Some people 'hosts' will show no signs of it at all..

Either way if you don't catch it now its likely they'll inject you with a mild dose of it anyway when the next flu jabs come around, providing they have a vaccine by then.

Stay safe..!

They are saying to self isolate if you have a new persistent, dry (non productive) cough and/or a temp

Yes, the slightest symptoms then be responsible and self isolate...

So many irresponsible people will lead to other peoples mums, dads or grand parents being buried before there time...

that's why the main message from the PM is we all need to pull together and working together on this will save lives

I think mate, that pretty much sums up the state of everything currently.
Have I got it? Do I follow the advice? Do I trust what i'm reading online? What do I do?
There will be those that we all know that have self isolated simply because they are the type that are always off work anyway, and the type that need to work to live. The problem as far as I can see is the lack of testing and real confirmation on what to do. A blanket statement asking anyone with any sniffs or coughs to stay at home for 2 weeks just isn't realistic, but for those that just muddle through it and ignore the warnings, they are potentially just extending this current pandemic further into the year. We just don't know and with how far the human race has come, that's hard to get your head around.

My personal opinion is if you feel unwell, do as you are told and stay at home. Most of us have people around us that are crying out to help out neighbours, family members etc. I had a voice message on my answer machine last night from my 95 year old neighbour in tears because she'd got no loo roll left and didn't want to bother anyone, which made me realise we all need to pull together and listen to what advice we are being told. Do this, and it will be over faster than we expect, ignore it and this thread will still be live in 6 months time.

Who has kids and hasn’t got some kind of cold going round this time of year! Son coughed in class on Monday and was sent straight out to the matron!

I think the government advise on new persistent dry cough and temp are the symptoms to look out for and if we have either of these then we need to do our bit and self isolate.

We pulled ours from school to delay the onset as we are both self employed.
I am now self isolating as have had a dry cough. Only a little one probably 8 coughs a day but I've had a few hot spells.

I completely agree we must be in a position to test or know if someone has or had it. If I have or had it, once sorted I can get back out and help keep the economy going. If i get better then in another 2 weeks get another cough, thats me out of action again for 2 weeks. It really is proper daft.

I reckon it's natures way of having a sort out and giving the planet a bit of a rest.

This will have happened many, many times before for thousands of years. It's just that we've not been aware of it and had it hyped up by the press. It seems that the people that have sadly died have had underlying issues, and the inevitable has been brought forward by a few weeks/months. The fact that we are aware of these thing nowadays and seem to have to do what we can to prevent/change them is just another way of fighting nature and buggering up the whole system.

The doctor that discovered covid-19 was in his early 30's... I wouldn't of said it delayed the inevitable that was going to happen to him in a few months anyway

He must have had something in his plumbing, wiring or chemical make up that couldn't resist it, therefore, underlying issues.

Well currently on day 6, doing our bit, would hate to find out I was possibly responsible for the transmission to someone vulnerable. Main gripe for me is I haven't been able to get my usual medication as they are out of stock. Feel like a twitchy crack addict who hasn't got his score. Hopefully will be in today and all back to feeling good again. I've got to give it to my kids. There being hard work, but not as many melt downs as we thought. Stay safe people.

This thing apparently originated in, but is not fatal to bats. Dont know if it's too much engineer in me, but.....

Given it's the pneumonia (fluid build up in the lungs) that has severe consequences for us humans, cant help thinking, hang me upside down from the ceiling if I get unwell.

When in Rome an all that. Albeit on lock down.

Anybody got any good bat recipes????
Despite being the most advanced, intelligent species on the planet we have been pursuing our self destruction for a while now. I was working in Gabon during the 1990’s when there was an Ebola outbreak.....there was still a thriving market for monkey meat.
It’s human nature to think it’s going to happen to somebody else.

My local community appears to be coming together and I suspect that'll continue across the country. Hopefully.

Just taking Tourershine's point into consideration, perhaps we could also come together as a community. I'm not entirely sure exactly what Tourershine does for a business but, I'm sure there may be folk on here who could use his services if they knew what he offered. This obviously applies to everyone else here who has a business.

In these times of uncertainty, maybe Pauly could introduce a new forum which would allow members to offer their services to our T6 community? Just until the worst is over.
