As @Big Al says ‘The question is, is there really a noise on the engine? The seal issue could be that it was ill-fitted twice and its now ` palm it off` to another dealer?’
That’s exactly what I’m thinking, I suspect the garage that has replaced the seal has spotted a pain in the ass job which might end up costing them and opted to get on with some other run of the mill money earning jobs.
A decent motor engineer / mechanic should be able to check the free end of the crankshaft with a DTI; end float and run out. Crankshaft just needs some gentle levering (engine stopped) to take it through the range of movement. I wouldn’t think it’s likely the engine has main bearing failure unless somebody has made a massive error and run without oil etc. That should not cost you more than an hours labour.
I also have a Euro 5, 180ps, 2016; they do seem to be very reliable as long as it has been built with the RevD EGR cooler.
