EPB Retrofit ... the way to Stop & Go

What Car ? What ECU ?
Because EPB is just unhappy that MOTOR_10 CAN Message is missing.
Motor 10 is regarding to Start/Stop, so i assume your Engine is older and does not do Start/Stop.
You than only need to change Coding of EPB to Start/Stop no.
It is Documented in VCDS LongCoding.
It is a Golf MK6 TDI, ECU is EDC17CP14.

I’ll check that and report back, currently my coding for the EPB is 0F3C55.

EDIT: Byte 1 is 3C which stands for “The start-stop system is disabled”.

Than try Enabling and Disabling again.
And try the same with config in next Byte of Coding.
Just tried, the error still pops up.

I'm attaching the blockmap and adpmap, any help is highly apreciated :)

I'm starting to think is my ECU. Just did a backup of the flash opened in WinOLS with the Damos file and there are some diferences comparing with several tiguans and passats.

Do any of you have a flash for a T6 ECD17 ECU where the EPB works?

I have implemented Auto Apply to my EPB setup .
Extremely handy feature ;).
At this stage I don't have to touch my EPB switch at all .
I could hide it anywhere and pull it out for the convenience of the tester during periodic technical inspections(MOT, CVRT, NCT, TUW, etc.) :D.

My EPB Auto Apply design (OEM factory fit alike!) works if one of the following conditions are met and vehicle is either stationary or on the move up to 7km/h.
1. Ignition is being switched OFF.
2. Ignition ON and drivers door is opened.
3. Ignition ON and drivers seat belt is unfastened.

I was also considering DSG lever in P position but in my subjective opinion it would be an overkill.

Obviously demo (show off) video will follow soon .
Very slowly but very surely.
Another OEM alike feature by my own "design" :D:laugh:.
EPB auto apply/engage when driver's seat belt is being unfastened.

Additionally when EPB is engaged it automatically mutes PDC audio warning .

Actually it is also in the Chinese NMS passat:

Do you managed to get the G476 Clutch Sensor connected to EPB ?
So far i found Part Number auf Chinese NMS Passat G476 it is 3C0927810
Luckyly no special Chinese Partnumber.
That Sensor does have the extra Contact for EPB.
But it does not look like you can swap it mechanically with the one used in T6 ...
Anyone invested here ?

Yes, I bought the one used in the Tiguan which is the same partnumber you identified.

Everything is working, I just have that annoying error due to some missing CAN massage from the ECU.

I also have a similar error is the PDC/PLA 3 module:

Ok so you have two Control-Modules Complaining about missing Motor_10

Than it is clear that your ECU is the issu :)

Just enable Motor_10 in the CAN Tx Table of ECU Flash.
Since you have Winols it should help you there.
Else i can help you, send me your ECU Flash file, i can manually findy the CAN Tx Table and enable it.
But i am busy with real life, so it can take some time.

I already tried but I think it is beyond my experience.

I can find motor_10 in EDC17CP20 but not in CP14, even the damos file was no help.

If you could help I would greatly appreciate it. :) I will send you the link to the flash file.

...
Applying EPB at higher speeds is the second part of this system.
In such a scenario EPB controller sends CAN frames to the ABS and requests hydraulic braking to take place.
...
T6 ABS unit doesn't recognise EMERGENCY BRAKING triggered by EPB resulting with no hydraulic braking.
In such a scenario EPB controller (being very sophisticated and fail-safe unit) performs EMERGENCY BRAKING via servomotors (as shown in my YT video below).
The most important functionality of EPB - Emergency Braking in action.

Hi All,

This is a very interesting thread. I am retrofitting a EPB system to a 1979 Chevy C20. The brake calipers have been installed, and we have got hold of a EPB module. The module is from an Audi, 8K0907801H. From what I am reading, is it not possible top use this as a standalone unit?

Many thanks,
Mathew

Hallo @packard34 cool move.
But i guess that the Audi unit, too, will not work without a Working CAN Bus.
From our Research on the 56D Unit we know and understood that the EPB is talking to a lot of CAN Bus Units to better understand the actual Vehicle State.
So you need either to simulate all this, build your own unit, or find a Standalone EPB Controller ...

Thank you @dnoermann, I appreciate your reply.

Is it possible to bypass a controller, for example use a simple on off switch to engage / disengage the EPB? Or can anyone suggest a suitable controlller?

Thanks

Assuming that you will be driving on public roads, have you read this?
Especially attached documents.

Thanks for your reply Robert,

I should have mentioned I am located in Australia, so our regulations differ from that of the US.

Cheers,

Actually I meant basic principles of the system, safety of yours and other road users nevermind regulations.
