First French trip, best location weather wise in September?

Crest is lovely, if you head further south I can recommend Vaison la Romaine and its stunning Roman Bridge......
Starting to head north on Sunday. Need to be in Calais for Saturday night. Any recommendations for further north from Crest?
Beaune just of the A9 is a good stop off
Moving on tomorrow so just been to pay the bill (yes you pay when you leave!) For 4 nights worked out to £24 per night. That's with EHU, river side site, beautiful swimming pool, on site cafe/restaurant. Immaculate toilets/showers (mixed though which hasn't gone down well with the Mrs and daughter). Shop next door, brilliant location. Absolute bargain.
We too have thought that French sites have been very reasonable indeed. With the exchange rate and cheaper diesel its worked out well.
Great last night, lovely sky. River is now almost clear. Shame we're moving on.
Now in Jura region. Seems to be getting quieter further north. Site pitches pretty much empty. Gone upmarket and booked a pitch with its own private bathroom and kitchen. Good job as the loos aren't very good.
Been between 23 and 29. No idea if that's normal? Last night was the first night it went cold. Dropped to single digits. Before then it was quite pleasant during the evenings. One downside is the relatively short daylight hours. But honestly can't fault it. Roads, quiet sites now mainly retired Dutch people. Nice and relaxed.
*edit* Now 19:46 and still outside with shorts and tee-shirt.

Another stunning morning. Nice little village but the patisserie is close for two weeks so need to head out in the van to find supplies.

Tchu! Man up!! Some of our most memorable nights have been in the van in spectacular continental thunderstorms. First sign of trouble & you run to the hills

Honestly you can't believe it. Been planning this trip for 5 years and the buggers take on holiday when we here. I'll make sure to mention it my my trip advisor review
Well into our second week now and really starting to get into the French way of life. Even my shopping habits have changed. Honestly feeling more french as the days go on....
Just sat down for an afternoon snack. I shall say this only once but I really feel like a true French man now.
