Hi,
I am just about to do the B post cut for the air duct has anyone got any measurements that I can work to ?

Regards
Stuart
I don’t have dimensions but here are a couple of photos. You can use the part in the second pic to mark the cut.

Cheers for the reply I am just going to open it out slowly with a drill. Your 2nd picture does that have an oring to sit in the groove ?
Thanks
Stu

If you use the piece that fits on the outside of the B pillar (your screwdriver is resting on it) move it around until it fits flush on the B pillar and thats your spot. There aren't any specific dimensions i'm afraid

Don’t forget that @Deaky is showing you a picture of the factory installed piece. That raised lip on the metalwork won’t be on yours.

Maybe he means the groove that runs all round that piece on the outside. If so there wasn't one with mine and I dont see the need either.

OK, So I've run into a problem.
It appears that the California uses a different part to some other models for the air guide on the B pillar.
I have been scratching my head trying to get the B pillar cover back on and come to the conclusion that it just won't fit, the air guide would have to be an inch or so further forwards for the B pillar cover to go back on, but that would mean that I'd got the placement of the hole I cut way off and I know that's not the case because my duct comes up from under the van and lines up perfectly with the hole I cut.
So I did a bit of googling and it seems that I've been thrown a curve ball, I have the air guide part number 7H5 819 655 A, but the part I need is the one listed on page 1 which is 7H0 819 655 A which is a little bit smaller...

Pauly! I need a new bit!
Hello Grid, If you still have the "great" part, on my side I have the "small" one and if you want we can exchange it !

Finally got round to fitting the B pillar duct work. My approach:
Taped the cardboard template to the duct mouth.
Fitted the duct in place.
Drilled a few pilot / location holes in the B pillar and marked them on the template.
Removed the template and secured it to the B pillar using the location holes / marks.
Traced around the template.
Cut the shape out with a multi tool and plunger blade. One cut and no filing.
Painted the bare metal and fitted all the duct work.

pics out of sequence but they support the process I used.

Good choice I’ve yet to connect up yet but checked @Skyliner33 installation. The hot air blows down and outwards so I expect it to rise and circulate adequately. Plan B would be to add a bit of addition ducting to aid the circulation.

The B-Pillar plastic's is 7E0.867.292.

Have fitted 7E0.819.381 piping up the metal pillar from heater and is attached to 7H0.819.475 frame.

So i need to swap the 7H5.819.655 pipework for the narrower 7E0.819.655.

Hopefully the vents 7E0.819.209 and 7E0.819.383A are the right ones to match this?

Anyone need a 7H5.819.655A? Can't swap at dealer as in Germany. I will try at local VW dealer, failing that Ebay.

Will post to see if anyone needs one.

Anyone need a 7H5.819.655A. The pipework that guides air to vents in B-Pillar. I got the wrong one, too wide for my pillar. Cost me 23.32 Euro. Dooohhh.

Or is Ebay or the bin?

Try IM ing Larenale, The postage from the UK would be as much as it's worth, you might have cheaper rates.
