AdBlue Discussion and Issues

Heading from Inverness to harwich to catch early ferry.
Adblue range 3000 miles when left Inverness , 90 miles in Adblue alarm / 650 miles. Filled with 3.5 litres and gave it time to calibrate, not recognised so repeated . Still not recognised.
On 450 miles till no start. Vw assist not helping . Any advice ??

• After refilling, switch on the ignition only.
• Leave the ignition switched on for at least 30 seconds to allow the system to detect the refill procedure.
• Do not start the engine until the 30 seconds have elapsed! try a few times m8 it should work fingers crossed

mine was he same

Just had a look at mine and it’s saying 2500 miles and the minimum fill is 1.25 gallons.
Which is 4.7 litres I’d say you need to put more in for it to register as I believe the adblue sensor pings like a sonar so 3.5 litres won’t be enough for it to read the level.

Sorry just re read your first post did you put another 3.5 litres in so in all 7 litres or just re did the ignition?

I have had that only once in total of 35000 miles on T6's now - and then it cleared in 20 mins before I had a chance to stop and hook the VCDS while fault was still active. I was driving at fairly high speed and when started to slow down got the dash announcement. I'm a bit curious at what conditions you got the dash light?

Had then a chat with local service technician who mentioned that they have not been able to have a single one for investigations with the fault on as all faulted (approx. 5 of them) had cleared the dash light in a few start ups. So I'm wishful yours also will clear by itself - may be just turning ignition on or starting the engine a few times .

My fault data has led me to believe this is has nothing to do with the actual AdBlue level sensor as the snapshot which was recorded in the ECU reports that the AdBlue level was valid 97mm - which is just the correct value as I have kept eye on that. So to me it seems to be just another software glitch...:speechless:

How weird.
I had the same issue driving to Inverness the other week to do your Caravan. It cleared itself after about 50 miles, and went back to normal.

Thanks for replies . Maybe the A9 causing the fault tourershine !! Vw sent an AA tech who met me outside lookers Carlisle , he told me before meeting that he wouldn't be able to sort it and would need vw tech - lookers "no tech here " wouldn't / couldn't look at it.
So , I've made it to harwich , now 90 miles till no start so I'm gonna get on the boat in the morning, try n make it to first campsite n call vw assist in Netherlands .
AA tech reckoned it needed 10 litres at least of Adblue, so kept pouring it in till overflowing, so that's another problem too now!

Ours came on yesterday, min fill 1 gallon max fill 1 gallon.

Put in 1 gallon, changed to adblu def error.

Called assist to meet us in Liverpool (there for a funeral). Checked it 2 hours after parking up, still on error.

30 mins later assist arrive... Fault had cleared, no error, range 4000 miles lol

Made it to campsite in delft.
Speak to vw assist in the morning .
Cold beer now!

70 miles......
Think vw assist want me to drive it to nearest dealer but wouldn't arrange anything until tommorow
Still can't believe they sent out an AA tech to me to meet outside an open vw commercial dealer!! Like sending an ambulance to meet you at the door of A&E ( but not letting you inside....)

I still think the Adblue range indication in MFD is bother! I have just got back from a round trip down to Malaga, at the start of trip the Ablue range said 5000 miles, we did just over 2400 miles and it now says 4500 miles still available WTF?

I do lots of long motorway/A road driving and the adblue range hardly moves. But when I'm working locally and doing stop/start and short journeys the range drops dramatically.
VW say that this is correct, as adblue is used for emissions control.
