AdBlue Discussion and Issues

Well mine went into VW Manchester and I asked them to look into whether the van was on the recall list. They said it wasn't but when I picked it up I was told it had been given an AdBlue update. When I asked if they could be more specific they couldn't.
Anyway the EML is now out.

I asked what the score was if the EML and Adblue errors continued after the warranty was up and the service repair woman would not commit to answering whether VW would honour a charge free repair on and ongoing issue.
I just hope it's all sorted now or the van will probably get sold if I have to pay for ongoing and recurring issues after the warranty is up.

Cheers

@Redkite they should have given you a letter from VW explaining the issues it addresses. You are also entitled to a heap of free Adblu too. If it’s the update mentioned above.

I will get my local VW roadside assist guy to carry out this update. He is far more knowledgeable and willing to help as he isn’t tied to any dealer.
He just advised me about the moll battery issues and after mine when dead, again, he came out and replaced it at my house. Far more convenient than driving to my local VW dealer who would just try and wriggle out of it.

I have never done this after refilling the adblue. I just fire it up and drive off as I would after filling with fuel. What does the 30 second delay do?
It allows the sensor to correctly read the height of the adblue in the tank before you move off.

Hi, all
Last week I received a letter from France VW Headquarters. It was as simple letter and not a registered letter.
It means thats the remap doesn't affect reliability, safety, and so on...
In this letter is mentionned that in order to reduce NOx emissions, ADBLUE consumption will increase.
But VW France will give a voucher which allows to fill freely adblue tank up to 7 times.
I 'm struggling because the van as 45 000 km without any dash light (engine / adblue problems) ... so to do or not to do ??

Not My T6 but my new 19 plate caddy add blue drama.
So after 1 week engine management light comes on, so I do a scan look up fault codes and re set as I am thinking all the dealer will do is re set and tell me to come back if the light comes on again.
2 weeks later engine Managment light comes on, read codes same as before.
Take the van in to the dealer and the woman receptionist tells me I have over filled it with add blue!

I say no I haven’t

She says I have

I say no I really have not, I have only done 1000 miles and it says it has 4000 miles left in the tank.

She says well has anyone else put add blue in

I say no

She says it’s a 7 litre tank and you have 8 litres in it

Well it’s nothing to do with me maybe it’s the factory who over filled, like they missed off my under seat stowage that you have charged me for..

Twats.....

Not very helpful but my van has literally not put a foot wrong, no updates, no recalls, driven with jack all fuel in and adblue ran right down and it just keeps going. Yeah I have had the AA do a couple of forced regens but its nice to get your monies worth.

When it goes back someone should seriously buy it - some vehicles are just bad news others are bright purple and hard as nails.

I don't see how it would be related..
Maybe I don't understand what the adblu does. But I was thinking it reduced the amount of NOX produced and so there would be less to be recirculated and clog the EGR valve. Or does the adblu happen later in the system. Or maybe I've got that all wrong.

I recently bought the van (2018 t6 102) do new the forum. All was good for 6 or so weeks and really enjoying the van. Until Wednesday when the emissions warning light came on. I plugged my friends carista and fault codes Po401 and 23871 where logged.

We reset the codes on the hope it was a one off. But Friday evening it returned, so I called VW assist. No VW technician was available so they sent an AA technician who put his diagnostics in and the same egr codes were logged and he said it’s ok to drive but get it looked at ASAP.

50miles later it is back on. So obviously an issue somewhere

Upon phoning the dealership they informed me they will not look at it for 5weeks and told me to phone another dealership. Who also had lead time of a similar length. Upon hearing this I was surprised and asked how I stand regarding warranty that I could be driving with a blocked egr. His response was that it would go into limp mode soon.

I am being unreasonable demanding it gets looked at sooner?

I find it unbelievable that I spend nearly £20,000 on a van that I have to drive with a fault for over a month.

Is there anything I can try to clear it out in the meantime? I have filled up with optimax diesel and put some diesel system treatment into fuel.

Sorry for the really long post and any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Thank
Rob
