Hillside Birchover

Perhaps I should've posted this here? Sorry, newbie getting used to forum....

Hi All,

New to the forum. Have (and love) a 'new' 2015 Birchover but I want to remove the curtains to wash them. The front and back are self explanatory but the ones on the side windows are obscured by the grey trim and I can't get to the runners to remove the curtains. How do I get to them without breaking stuff! How is the trim attached?

Pics below.

Thanks

Tolly

@Tolly I have blinds rather than curtains but I expect the trim fits in a similar way on all of them.
I would look for fixings behind the trim going into the side.
Take a look at this vanshades fitting video to get an idea of what I mean

I could of course be completely wrong, but in the absence of other responses that’s where I’d look.

Has any Birchover owner removed the long right hand interior side panel that runs between the B pillar and the wardrobe that covers the window blind mechanisms (see picture below)? I’ve noticed a really annoying rattle that is coming from this panel that is located above the worktop adjacent to the fridge/oven pod. I’m sure something is loose and needs fixing back in place however, after several attempts, I still haven’t been able to find a way to remove this panel from within the interior so the rattle continues.

I guess it could be clipped in somehow but having tried unsuccessfully to gently prise the panel off using various trim removal tools the method of fixing continues to elude me. I’m now suspecting that this panel was mounted before the side unit was installed so isn’t intended for user removal. It looks like I’ll just have to stuff some bits of foam down between the blind material and the panel. Unless of course anyone knows otherwise. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Mine is older than yours and has the curtains. Same gig though. Looks like this was all fixed prior to cabinets.

I’ve recently had murder getting curtains out to wash.

The rest of the window ‘pods’ could be uninstalled easily to unhook all curtains

I believe Hillside used Velcro in my van (2022 SWB). The only way I was able to determine that was to open the window, go outside and peer at the back of the panel. Gently pushing the panel I could see the Velcro from outside. I have never had to try to remove it, just explore the possibility of hiding a cable behind it. I imagine it would be a real bind to remove as does appear to have been fitted before the units.

I’ve never tested Hillside on this, but they state the following:

Hillside Leisure will provide when requested access to any elements of our multi stage build that is related to our Type Approved vehicles (Transporter Models - g11*2007/46*00346 / VW Crafter & MAN TGE Models - g11*2007/46*00344) and is required for the purpose of service or repair.

For further information please email our customer service team on customerservice@hillsideleisure.co.uk Monday – Thursday who will respond within 7 working days. For any parts fitted during the conversion process, these can be requested by emailing our customer service department. Information requested will be provided within 21 working days.”

So you should be able to request the info and they should just supply it.

I had hoped it would be attached with Velcro or other hidden fixing but it really doesn’t look like it. I’ve opened the window and looked in from the outside but could only feel a couple of Pozidrive screws that fitted in from behind. It looks like there are a few more but access from either the outside or the inside doesn’t look possible which makes me think the panel was fixed before the side unit was fitted.

Many thanks for the information guys. It’s certainly worth a shot. As there’s no obvious way to remove the panel I’ve decided to park the job and pick it up again in the New Year.

That said, having had another look over the weekend, I’m wondering if removing the overhead storage pod above the rear side window will help. I’ll update when I’m back on the case.
