How.... how do you afford a van?

There are quite a few forum members who lament they bought a porta potty and have never used it......
I'm one of them! Bought it along with a nice carry bag, carried it on a few trips but never used it and then stuck it in the loft along with the unopened bottles of chemicals. We both basically decided that there was no way that we would want it in the van after putting 'solids' in it and as far as the overnight 'liquids' were concerned a bucket with lid would suffice.

I wanted a van for 10/15 years but never had the finances to buy one. Luckily this year, I ended my self employment and went employed, so could free up some funds with the sale of my work van.

I bought a 2016 T6 Highline and won't ever sell it unless I upgrade to newer

Congratulations fellow noob! You've done the right thing!

I followed a lot of advice from this thread and ignored the cynical stuff and I have to say i have no regrets. My finances are screwed. It's cost me an additional fortune this past month and a half of owning it but there's no substitute. I feel very privelaged. My wife has concluded I am not a masochist... the void left by desperately wanting a dub bus has closed. I desperately want to get away in it asap. But it's an empty shell with nothing done to it. My new and more productive fixation hehe

We bought one used it a couple of times and then sold it on eBay , as we now go to the same half dozen sites all year round ( off to Ashridge today ) Job done
I just bought one off of ebay. I regularly get caught short for number ones. I actually can't wait to use it in anger :D:grin bounce:

First time I went out in mine it was an empty shell with a blow up mattress. I have seen a few others do the same at forum meets. Don’t wait. Get out and enjoy it

We use our porta potti all the time. especially in aires in France and Spain where there's no facilities.
I used to use my van for mountain biking weekends as soon as i got it. I had a blow up matress and a camping chair in the back and it was still better than my mates who were in tents. I'd open the tailgate, sit on the chair with a beer and watch them faff with the tents.
As Bav says, get along to summer camp next weekend.

We're off to stay the night at Newbie Hall in back end of August for the fireworks competition. The plan was to get it windowed and carpet lined beforehand... the plan is failing

The windows really aren't difficult. The carpet is more of a pita; fighting tons of carpet in the back of the van with a can of spray glue in your hand is just unpleasant.
I'm only in HD9 if you need some moral support.
