'Inspection Now' message

Mine has flashed up that it is due for an “inspection”
1 yr and 6k

What’s that all about..... or do I need to RTFM :D

The inspection means the best part of £175 ! (First service at 10k or 1 year)
At least with’commercial’ vehicles I managed to get it done the very next day.

Oh and they knocked £30 off because it was a whilst you wait service and after an hour it was still in the car park.

I just got a quote of £143 from Nottingham van centre, but thought i'd try jct 600 at Sheffield. What a waste of time ! i was transferred 3 times before finally getting through to "Sylvia", then being immediately cut off.

Didn't give up that easily though(disappointingly for Sylvia,no doubt), and eventually got her later in the day when she then tried to tuck me up for £303 and then got arsy when i queried it.

Thinking that there must be some sort of benchmark prices they are allowed to charge, i phoned VW, but apparently dealers are free to charge as much as they think they can get away with.

IMAG1837.jpg This is probably a really dumb question but can anyone explain this displayed in my MFD? Service AND inspection????

Two "independent" events.
Oil service - Engine oil and filter change in 2400 miles or 121 days, whichever comes first. Usually flexible interval min 12500 - max 25000 miles or max 2 years.
Inspection - just a couple of checks, change of pollen filter, etc, in 7200 miles or 90 days, whichever comes first. Fixed interval 25000 miles, or 2 years. The following ones every year.

How much should one be paying for the first inspection at 2 years? Is this the smaller of the 2 inspection types as was given 2 prices by VW?

When I bought my T6 I had VW finance to buy it. For having their finance I received an extra £1500 off the discounted price of the van & 2 free services. Happy Days :)

It's too early that. 2 years or 20k. It's a mis programme. They can reset it and as it's under warranty you shouldn't pay!
Ring them up. On a T5 you could reset service indicator yourself but not sure how on a T6

Ta very muchly Buggirl for the info. My oil service indicator (and accompanying annoying beep) came on after my first 300 miles. Friday at 750 miles I finally visited the dealer, and they've booked it in for a whole day in case it needs a new MFD. Got replacement van for me too. I watched the vid, and cleared mine without even reaching the last stage of the process. I'll cancel the visit now, as I've better things to do. Surprised ( or shouldn't I be?) that the service department didn't suggest/know this, as I spoke to them direct. Still, the salesman came out and took a few snaps of the van.
He Reckons VW have a similar but not-so-nice, 'edition' thingy on sale.....

@Cherokee i was like you when you brought it up originally (that dam beep), but i was on holiday at the time. So i rang the dealer and he told me no probs when you are passing call in and we will cancel it out because its to early for a change with only 8000 miles, but there's no need now thanks to this fix, happy days

Had van now 7month 8000 miles on clock and inspection due now flashing up on dash. That can't be right can it?

mine did that at 11 months. A month later the "service required" message came up. Dealer said neither should've happened & reset them. But I was going to have the oil changed annually anyway so I asked them to do that whilst it was in & they did it whilst I waited. Charged me £120 ish iirc for the oil & filter change.

Thanks yes was going to have oil change at 10000 mile which is not far away so will get inspection re set at same time.

My Van has just started showing Inspection due, according to the Service info in the MFD currently the Service will be due circa 30 days after the Inspection - whilst they are both due (van not far off 2 years) it seems silly they're only a month apart - plan is Inspection can simply be done when Service is due - I assume this won't invalidate anything though, perhaps have to do it the other way round but would rather not...

Thanks.

I think the inspection will be done and mfd will be reset so service will change to another time

My inspection came on after a year followed by service the following year, I figured it was a mid point check in the two year servicing regime ?
