If you're considering buying a camper, I recommend giving Comfort Insurance a call - good cover and reasonable premiums provided you're prepared to limit your annual mileage.Ok so i have now tried Adrian Flux on £90,000 its come in at £1840 so if I get one cheaper I hope the insurance will be also. Not going for a camper Bav Just going to use as a daily like a car for fishing and British motorcycle racing and putting our 2 golden retriever's in. I want it to be luxurious and comfortable. I'm still at the learning stage at moment so I don't make any mistakes. I'm also looking at Knights Customs which s nearer me. I should be paying both a visit in the next month. If you're considering buying a camper, I recommend giving Comfort Insurance a call - good cover and reasonable premiums provided you're prepared to limit your annual mileage.
Did they mean "...transferred from Markerstudy..."?My renewal has arrived from Brentacre….
At the top of the letter it says this:
Your current insurer Markerstudy Insurance Co Ltd are currently not offering renewals, so your cover will be transferred to Markerstudy Insurance Co Ltd for the same price it would have been. The cover and terms are almost the same – we will discuss this with you in more detail when you contact us.
So that makes no sense whatsoever
Last year £425 inc £65 admin fee
This year £485 inc £65 admin fee
Will revisit the LV quote I got the other day.
No idea til I get a chance to callDid they mean "...transferred from Markerstudy..."?
As you say, makes no sense as written. No idea til I get a chance to call
Certainly a company I will try next time it's due, thanks @Philgy , I wonder if never having owned a caravan will dent my chances?!Caravan Gaurd £388.00 Professionally converted van. Agreed 70K.
61 full no claims.
Had to have a tracker fitted. Been with them for years. Renewal in a couple of months.
Had a T5 insured first then a big motorhome, this was a total loss in a storage fire. They payed out in full within 4 weeks. Even got my excess back. Was a no brainer for me when I got the T6.Certainly a company I will try next time it's due, thanks @Philgy , I wonder if never having owned a caravan will dent my chances?!
Thanks BavHi @The Flying Scotsman.
Yes, you earn NCB per vehicle.
Some camper insurers will mirror the NCB earned on a different vehicle, which means you get the discount as if you had the same NCB, but, come renewal, any Proof of Bonus or Renewal Invitation will show how much NCB you have actually earned on your camper. This is, in effect, a honey trap, as no other insurer will be able to come close to your renewal premium (unless, of course, the other insurer also offers mirroring).
Regardless of mirroring (and subject to having not made an intervening claim), if you started with 0 years, your first Renewal Invitation should show 1 year, so yours showing 0 years might be something worth querying.
Comfort do provide decent cover though. Also, if your 3pts relate to speeding, they're unlikely to have made any difference to the premium - especially if 4 years ago. Legally, SP30 are rehabilitated after 5 years, after which time it's unlawful for them to be taken into consideration, but the vast majority of insurers ignore after 3 years and most ignore the first speeding anyway.Had my renewal from Comfort Insurance couple days ago go from £472 to £585 same cover , seems ridiculous as 2022-23 it was around £380-400 iirc then £472 23-24 now £585 24-25 steep increases imo BUT looking at this thread it seems about right ??. 53 with 3 points (4 years ago) and 10+ years no claims.
Can I be bothered calling round the usuals and will it be cheaper do you think?.
I just had one from Adrian Flux - £1100 and Brightside for £1,475.75 on a T6 Kombi 2018. Mine was £500 2 years ago. I'm shocked at the cost now.Had my renewal from Comfort Insurance couple days ago go from £472 to £585 same cover , seems ridiculous as 2022-23 it was around £380-400 iirc then £472 23-24 now £585 24-25 steep increases imo BUT looking at this thread it seems about right ??. 53 with 3 points (4 years ago) and 10+ years no claims.

Ouch! Unfortunately it’s pretty much everything - increased pay for everyone involved (insurance. Garage, recovery, parts manufacturers …), logistics, import costs, rise in uninsured drivers, more litigation, medical costs, higher repair costs of EVs (spread across everyone rather than only EVs), increased claims (e.g. more thefts due to JLR poor security) and general appalling driving standards to mention a few. In my opinion the whole vehicle insurance sector needs a thorough shakeup to make it fairer, reward good behaviour and remove the scourge of uninsured drivers. What on earth is driving up the cost?
Because they repair costs they get from workshops have dramatically increased, labour and parts have increased more than inflation. What on earth is driving up the cost
