Reversing camera retrofit (OEM)

Hi...i am a new user here. I am thinking of buying a shuttle and I don't think it has front and rear parking a sensors. It does however have front sensors for active cruise control that automatically brakes the vehicle up to 90mph if you're too close.

Think will have rear sensors as these are standard on most models and front sensors/rear camera is usually a paid extra but can be added afterwards if required

They have to be coded. Quick job with the kit. Ideally you have a friendly local with VCDS who would do the job for beer tokens :) Otherwise it's finding a dealer or independent who wont charge the earth....
Any chance you can tell me how to code the guidelines? everything else working fine, just been fitted to a T6 Caravelle.
So far i have turned on the reversing camera and selected the low line camera.
Cheers
Richard

The lines are generated by the camera if you do not see them you cannot turn them on

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought i should have the guidelines since i have front and rear sensors with park pilot, also the kit i fitted was oem supplied by vagtec.
Maybe try and recode it again.
Cheers

Just for your info, I have just fitted an OEM camera supplied by Vagtec and it does have fixed green and red guide lines.
Coding was done in both module 10 & 5f.

I think the coding just turns on the camera and the guidelines are within the camera, not the coding. So if the camera view comes up when you select reverse but no guidelines then it could be a faulty camera?
Coding is in module 10 00-05 and module 5f 19-4

Just spoke with Vagtec and they are trying tell me its the park pilot that gives the overlay and something in adaptions needs activated, they are still investigating and should get back to me after lunch.
Im also thinking it could be a faulty camera but they insist its just a direct video feed.

Can anyone confirm the camera part number mine shows as 5Q0 980 121, I'm wondering if this could be the problem with the guide lines since I've seen a few other oem kits for sale with the part number 7E0 980 121
Cheers

My vagtec supplied camera was a different shape to the one in your picture. Mine was for a tailgate, I believe barn door cameras are different but I would expect both versions to have the guide lines.

Yes that's the same one I bought, you can see from the image the camera housing is a different shape from the picture you posted. Googling the number from your image says it's for a Skoda. I think you need to get back onto vagtec.

I think it just looks different because i removed the camera from the holder, will contact them again since all the other places i have seen selling the kit has a different camera number.

Hopefully you haven't cut the hole yet or if you have, hope the hole is the same size or smaller than the proper camera (cut mine at 41 x 41 mm)

Finally got to the bottom of the problem they sent me the wrong camera. Luckily its a bigger camera since i already cut a 31mm x 31mm hole, also i noticed the camera i have has two connector plugs and the one i should have has just one.

Very good you got it sorted out and glad to hear about the hole sizes, (lucky). The camera I have had two plugs one with red, brown and yellow, and one for video black and transparent.

Is it a 7E0 980 121? I've had one put in but the dealer tells me there's something stopping coding..

The camera thats being sent out just now is the 7E0980121, the first camera they sent was a 5q098121 (VW told me this camera was discontinued in 2012) that didn't have the reversing guidelines but all the other options worked.
I coded mine using VCDS and it worked fine just the guidelines missing.

For those who are looking for an installation manual for the OEM kit, see the file attached. It doesn't really leave any doubts about the location of wiring. I wish there was a similar guide for the power tailgate install... :-(
