Rang Steve Friday, got in Monday (today) for H&R and Koni's replacing OEM. superb service and very quick. got there for 10am and was back home near Oxford by 1pm. The ride home was a massive difference to normal and taking on the windy roads to the village I live in was a dream to normal, no swaying about on the bends anymore. Highly recommended and a pleasure to meet the 2 Steves and James. Still trying to work out how to tell the wife how much I spent :) think I will lie.
I sold it to the wife that the suspension was like that because it was knackered (95k) and I’d found a place that could replace it much cheaper than VW could. Bonus that it could be lowered too within that bargain price.

I can't work out if you guys have overly gullible wives, or if mine is unusually (and annoyingly) astute. Trying any of these deceptions on Mrs Bav would be as likely to succeed as trying to hide behind your finger.

Years of practice.....Carp fishing gear, aquarium stuff, guitars :)

Whilst my invoice was worded as 'repairs' to suspension for VAT and tax relief purposes, Steve told me about how often he's asked to give the customer an invoice with a lesser amount on it to take home with them.

Hmmm... you two are implying a lack deceptive ability on my part, rather than an acute shrewdness on hers.

You may have a point, but, in my defence, there's nowhere to hide discrepancies between payments and invoiced amounts when you have joint accounts - as a salaried employee all my working life, I've never had the cover of a separate business account.

Where there’s a will there’s a way.

I find selective, targeted and drip fed information works well in terms of outlining the strategic need and benefits of a particular purchase. Then a later tactical “need” is less of shock to the system.

To be fair the full cost of the CRS visit has never been a discussion I needed to have, as I’d already sold the benefits and the improvement in ride and handling were so obvious once done.

And it’s taken her 6 months to spot the spare set of wheels in the garage too!! By which time the “they were a bargain and cheaper than a new set of tyres, so it’s an investment” line worked well!

Don't get me wrong, I can be persuasive and Mrs Bav is often receptive to my purchase ideas - it's just that there's no hiding the real cost from her, so each purchase has to stand on its own merits.

Now we only have a joint account for utilities and the like.

I don't think I'd go too much on my savings pot for wheels and suspension being dipped into for dresses and shoes. Equally, she'd be pretty pissed at the dresses and shoes pot being dipped into for wheels and suspension.

plus 1 for this method!

Seems I got it wrong right from the very start (about 35 years ago). I don't think introducing that change now would go down too well...

Me: "I'd like us to have separate accounts dear and just use the joint account only for monthly bills"
Mrs: "Why?"
Me: "Well... err... I want... err..., I need to... err... well..."
Mrs: "Spit it out"
Me: "Well... I need to buy stuff for the van and... err..."
Mrs: "And?"
Me: "Well... I don't want you to know how much things are costing..."
Mrs: "You're ****ing kidding me, right?"
Me: "Err... yes dear... apparently so"

Now, the very lovely Mrs D and I have had a joint account since before we married 36 years ago. She does the banking so there’s no bluffing that one. I have to wait for some stuff, don’t get other stuff, but where the suspension and the van were concerned she was as keen as me. We were, and remain really happy, with the value of the suspension upgrades we got from Steve. We’re now working on getting the next van upgrade - the interior. Happy working it out together.

That sounds like a very familiar set-up and one that reflects a great partnership (hence your 36-years and counting).

I’m literally just back from CRS, after they fitted some Koni shocks for me; I can definitely confirm that the whole crew there did a brilliant job and went the extra mile to ensure that the new springs were the right weight and the ride height was perfect. Really appreciate your help guys ….. oh and happy birthday Steve!

After reading many posts on here regarding suspension, springs, Coilovers and whatnot and scouring various other online reviews, I can safely say my mind was discombobulated beyond belief.
A couple of calls to Steve and I felt reassured that he was the man for the job.
I did enquire to a couple of other suspension "specialists" but decided to go with @CRS Performance mainly due to the glowing reviews they have received, not just on here, but on other platforms and the fact that he didn't try and sell me the most expensive set up on the shelf, unlike others tried.
Upon arrival, we had a quick chat about what I wanted to achieve, followed by a quick look around the van, Steve immediately noticed that the front wheels were sticking out further than the arches, started talking technical and lost me within 30 seconds, apparently there were spacers behind the wheels which were not needed.

It was then up on the ramp and the other Steve and James set about their work, bugger me with a fish fork they were quick, by the time the kettle boiled the old suspension was out, by the time I had finished my coffee it was fitted.
A lovely friendly business who know their onions.
A quick test drive with Steve and I was amazed at the difference in ride, handling and the responsiveness of the steering.
Once the bill was paid it was back on the road for the 2hr journey home.
All I can say is WOW!
Anyone contemplating getting their suspension done, I would implore them to at the very least give these guys a call. I would have driven all night to get this level of service.
Thanks to all on the forum who recommended CRS and a massive thank you to Steve and the crew for their professional support and service.
All the best
Cuffy aka Rob.
PS:
I'll apologise to the forum for another photo of the van but it is the dogs danglies now, I've even fallen for my wheels, as I wasn't sure on them in the vans unmolested state.

Hi, Van looks great, what size wheel do you have and is it lowered if so by how much.
I am planning a trip to CRS next year, with their reputation it's the only place to go...
