Gutted for you..

Maybe worth thinking where and when you parked up over the last day or so.. see if there’s any cctv around that area?

Van was on a private farm last week in Cambridge (where I was staying) home all weekend and in Oxford today on clients car park in full view. Could have happened on the drive at home or possibly on the farm. I really have no idea when.
I might go through my pics of the van and see if I can see it which may narrow down the date but I'm of the mind set that its gone, so move on.
I've ordered a protector thingy from the Forum shop and I do have spare wheels so I'll stick one of them in along with some anti climb paint on the bracket.
Just wanted to bring awareness that this kind of thing actually does happen, even to me.

In an ideal old school world yes.
I'm not sure, even with clear cctv footage, the police have the time or resources to even bother looking. Crappy I know, but the sign of modern policing.

A mate of mine took his Peugeot motorhome in for an mot and when he went to pick it up the tester said "in a bit of a rush to get the spare wheel off weren't you", he thought for a moment and then realised he hadn't used the spare, so the tester put it up on the ramp and some toe rag had cut it off with and angle grinder and took the cradle as well , even my mate said its only a bl00dy Peugeot
They had actually taken the time to refit the cradle. I'm assuming they did that so I didn't notice when I came back thereby giving me an opportunity to check any CCTV.

As the title says.
I was walking back to the van today and noticed I couldn't see my spare wheel. So bent down and low and behold, it had gone.
However, when it was taken I have no idea nor when that happened. They had actually tightened up the spare wheel holder back in its place. I'm assuming they did the so as to not raise suspicions when I returned to the van.

So, there you have it. It does actually happen.

Now to buy a spare wheel nut protector thingy off @Pauly from the forum shop.

I do have 4 x Devonports but I don't know if a 17 inch will fit in the holder (said the actress to the bishop) ?

Whaaaaaaat !

Thats just not cricket.

No, I agree.. just sounds like someone may recognise them from cctv, having refitted the cradle, it’s not a smash and grab, more like they taken it to go on they’re own van?

I've never had TPMS so I dont know, does it include the spare? If so would a loss of signal from the spare raise an alarm?

No, the system uses the ABS wheel speed sensors to monitor the rotational wheel speed on each wheel to determine the rolling radius.

so there is no sensor inside each wheel Tyre. . . . .

and cars with a TPMS sensor inside the wheel only monitor at the 4 wheels and not the spare in the boot. . . . . as far as im aware.

Ah, now that is clever! So assuming you have ABS, a TPMS retrofit is just a software thing?

Yeh kinda . . . . . theve even done away with the separate RESET button/switch.

its all done via the dash MFD now.

Not done the retrofit TPMS myself as always spec`d it from new. but im sure someone will have some info.

Going off topic, have a look the recent thread about tyre pressure monitoring
Tyre Pressure Sensor
Our TPMS was configured by a Forum VCDS user. And it works, or at least appears to because I had to rebaseline the pressures after a reent trip to a dealer

Thanks chaps, not having TPMS I didnt follow the other thread... must pay more attention ;)

Meanwhile, I think I might be ordering a spare wheel security bolt...

Forum shops the best place to get them. Go with the longer bolt one as that covers more options for wheel size.
