T6.1 new order delays

All diesels are depreciation ready to happen arnt they.
Not convinced tbh. Diesels will be around in large numbers for at least another 20 years and the last on the roads may well attract a premium.

EDIT: Besides which, if you went down the MH route, you'd end up with a diesel anyway.

Would anyone offer to buy a house wait for 15 months and pay more ???
Some people do (e.g. when they chose to build) and they can afford to do so because they're purchasing an appreciating asset.

I dont think you're ever get to the bottom of the delays...
I placed my order with main dealer AUGUST 21, spec was T32 panel van, highline 204 dsg.lane assist, side assist ,park assist, heated seats, high beam control, Led's front and rear parking, power latching, camera, rear wash wipe window, swivel seats, and I collected it FEB 28th ! ..do some main dealers have a bit more clout with headquarters or I was extremely lucky...fyi dealer was Beadles, chelmsford.

Dealers have very little, if any, "clout" with VW. I suspect it has more to do with their allocation and whether they've over-sold their allocation. Were you lucky? Probably - in respect of your choice of dealer - but I don't think anyone on here would begrudge you that luck.

I was in the dealers Thursday and said no eta on new orders and waiting for wiring looms made in Ukraine? I asked if it was possible to get one this year he said no ! Emergency services and motability first ?

What did you mean (or what did the dealer think you meant) by "...possible to get one this year"? I think all on this thread would acknowledge that you can't order a van now and expect delivery this year, but if the dealer meant "there'll be no more vans delivered this year" then I'd call that out as BS. As painful and protracted as delivery has been, there are still vans coming through the system.

I don't know about that, anyone who gets a van before me... Well...I hate them with all the jealousy in my body!!

Think he was telling me no wiring looms ? And I bought my pure grey 2020 waited 6 months for it ? Reason behind not being able get hold of one is looms before that chips

Chip shortage still ongoing and it's likely to be another couple of years before that's fully resolved (see article in post #2840 of this thread). Looms are still a problem, but VW has supposedly sourced them from the same manufacturer, but using factories outside of the Ukraine (albeit at much reduced volumes). So, yes, there are still headwinds causing significant delays, but don't think it's true to say that the delivery of new vans this year will dry-up entirely.

Well that vw dealer didn't look optimistic I'm not bothered saving me money in a sense?

Over 20 days and I don't even warrant a customer service reply..........Disappointed doesn't explain how I feel....!!!

31st of March I wrote to VW customer care.....

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you for some news on the order 31059093, I gave for a van some 14 months ago,
Promises of build dates have come and gone first being June last year,
Yes we have had a pandemic at the time of ordering the time frame was not fully expressed despite being a year into the pandemic.......!
The sheer frustration of the extra expenses this has caused due to congestion/Ulez fees which came in October 2021,
Is precisely why a van was ordered.....
Having ordered a 4motion after getting fed up with waiting for over 2 years for the sportline to come out has added more frustration, as these models are being delivered despite being released after I placed my order.....
Now to find out that because of the spec of my van I keep getting pushed to the back of the que continuously, I begin to wonder if this vehicle will ever reach me?
Now to add insult to the whole debacle there is speculation of a price increase....
I have heard absolutely nothing from any VW representatives, which for a worldwide conglomerate I find terribly shocking.
So can you actually tell me what is going on with this order? is it even in the system? can I expect delivery anytime soon, and will the price be the same at the time of order 2/02/21
or will you just fob me off with yet more delays and tell me nothing that I don't already know which is absolutely nothing

Hoping someone will show me the human courtesy of replying and helping me make sense of this utter debacle

The response I got 9th of April....

Thank you for your recent email, I am sorry for the delay in my response.

In order for me to investigate this further, please can you kindly provide me with the name of the Volkswagen Van Centre you have been dealing with and your best contact telephone number.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

The inconsistency between those last two emails alone warrants a complaint and an argument about the price increase.

Same for me. Prices slightly different but ordered Jan 2021. Now 15 months in. Price increase letter arrived. Provisional build date Aug week 33. a pretty standard 204 BHP, LWB, a few options but pretty standard. I would have also gone for the Sportline had it been an option. And for me. Ordered 30th of March 21. Lwb kombi 4motion with some extras. But I did not have any sort of build date quoted. Not sure what to think. I need 4 wheel drive so no other options available for me. Would not shock me if it is another 12 months of wait!!

Tamping. That will be a few grand more....
That phrase really was a blast from my perspective!

431 days...
Well it was early 2021 when we spoke about our cancelled orders with the "Fleet supplier".

It's a bizarre system and there doesn't seem to much of a pattern, more like a lottery.
You're not kidding!
I recall that we both reordered about the same time in Feb 21 after our initial 2020 orders were ruined by VW's unbelievable behaviour, with the fleet buyer not being much better!

Since then I have received one SWB vehicle which was delivered in October 21 and also a second LWB vehicle in March 2022. I thought that was bad at the time!

You have been just about the unluckiest person on this thread and I cannot believe you suffered the price increase on top of the frustrating wait. Do you think Autobid used the woeful VW pricing policy to their own advantage.

Glad the pain is nearly over. It will all be worth it in the end!

In what way? VW initiated the price rises and, out of the 4 parties involved (the customer, Autoebid, the dealer and VW), VW are the only ones that benefit from those price increases.

Being a little cynical and seeing such disparity with the length of the delays, I do wonder if some discounted vehicles have been sold for more money by unscrupulous dealers or brokers and then reordered knowing that they needn't worry about the price change as passing this on is "expected"?

Vehicles which are simply "Available" over the last two years have sold for mental dosh.

That probably hasn't ever happened, but it could because there is no transparency during the ordering process.

Okay, I see where you're coming from - gazumping. I guess it's a possibility, but what would be the advantage to Autoebid? As an introducer (not a broker) they only get paid when the contract with their client is fulfilled.
