T6.1 new order delays

From a recent exchange with a friend whose company supplies VW with components, it looks likely that the T6.1 will be the last German-built VW medium van. It seems the T6.1 van replacement, unlike the new T7 Multivan, is being jointly developed with Ford and will be built alongside the 2023 Ford Transit Custom in Ford’s production facility in Turkey. It seems that production comes on stream in 2023, so I'm guessing VW will announce their new panel van this autumn and stop taking orders for the T6.1 by the end of the year. Lord knows how they'll clear the present back orders before next year though. I had thought of cancelling my order for a T6.1 and waiting until its replacement comes along but shudder at the prospect of buying a re-badged Turkish-built Ford Transit. Anyone heard anything on this?

Yeah, I've seen this discussed somewhere on the forum somewhere. Pretty sure it's more than a possibility - more of a done deal. A re-badged Ford? No thank you.

6 months from order to delivery? Wow! That's quick. Pleased for you - someone has to come out a winner in this godforsaken lottery.
Thank you. To be honest I wasn’t expecting to see it until at least early 2023.

I'm not expecting to see mine before 2023 either... mind, I ordered mine May 2021.

Hi all, where are you seeing your order status information? I have not be guided to that by the dealer? Cheers

This has been a mystery to me as well. Never seen this info. As per dealer email, I am still (naively?) waiting for my Multivan to arrive in September.

You’ll only get it from the dealer…if indeed they feel like sharing it. used To be able to get it from VW online, but think they stopped doing that as it was usually wrong and at least a week behind factory reality. Dealers can see factory status in live time.

After I moaned to my campervan converter about only getting two updates in 9 months and the fact that the original estimated delivery date was back in March, I'm now getting regular (every 4 weeks) emailed order progress updates. Apparently, the converter (who is one of the handful of VW Motorhome Qualified Converters in the UK ) receives a weekly report from the VWCV supplying dealership who in turn access this information from the VW dealer system. Sadly, from anecdotal evidence, the VW dealer system doesn't seem to update from the VW production systems in real time as vans are frequently getting built, shipped and PDIed (order status 60) before it appears on the dealer system.

Wow that’s impressive but that must only be a status 10 ( unconfirmed) build week as they can’t be that far ahead
No idea, but it's not the first time I've been given an eta that's changed,2 months ago I was told to expect it in Aug/Sept. Then this so god knows when it'll be ere..They did ask of I wanted to cancel,& offered me my deposit back..nar I've waited this long thx .

Hi all new to the forum.

Ordered my Highline Panel Van Sep 21'. Only added extras were the reverse camera with no bulkhead. I received the generic email last week from VW and my dealer in Newcastle can't give me any other information other than the deliveries have no consistency.

The wait is what it is. My predicament is when to sell my T5.1 12'plate day van. Prices are high right now but if I sell this summer i risk a long wait without a van (primary car).
Anyone else have this issue. Do I cash in now or wait it out and sell when the build goes in. Also if the price rises keep going I may not be able to afford it.

Congrats to all you guys who got your vans.
