T6.1 new order delays

Hi all new to the forum.

Ordered my Highline Panel Van Sep 21'. Only added extras were the reverse camera with no bulkhead. I received the generic email last week from VW and my dealer in Newcastle can't give me any other information other than the deliveries have no consistency.

The wait is what it is. My predicament is when to sell my T5.1 12'plate day van. Prices are high right now but if I sell this summer i risk a long wait without a van (primary car).
Anyone else have this issue. Do I cash in now or wait it out and sell when the build goes in. Also if the price rises keep going I may not be able to afford it.

Congrats to all you guys who got your vans.

I'm in a similar position, but i'm keepin mine till the 6.1 is physical, funnily enuff, its in for a full service & cambelt today, a cost I wouldn't have had ,had mine arrived, but you need them reliable & right, so just keep it pal, a mate of mine is pestering me for it.I know it'll sell,so I aint bothered.

Yeah snap. Service, cambelt and water pump due on mine too at 110k. So will need to get that done soon.

I'm definitely going for the t6 as I am looking for a new car that will last for me and the family. So getting windows, two seats in the back and some storage is the build I'm going for.

I'd like to say I can't wait but I think we have too.

That’s my dilemma too. I was planning to sell my Volvo earlier this year, when my T6.1 camper was first expected. However, to maintain its market value for when it is finally sold, it meant having to have a large service performed by the main dealer, have an MoT, have a faulty boost pressure sensor replaced and get a new set of tyres fitted. All in all, the delays have cost over £2K more than I’d anticipated. However, I‘ve decided to keep the car until the Transporter actually arrives in the UK, if it ever does.

Is that Ascot Grey,or White not sure with the lighting etc?.
Pretty sure that's Ascot Grey, but you've hit on the exact reason I went for Pure Grey rather than Ascot Grey (the inability to distinguish AG from white if they're not side-by-side).

It's white. Wait time 10 months, ordered at the end of September and received at the end of July

:fast rofl:Despite Because of being completely wrong on the colour, I think I've just proven my own point re AG! :fast rofl:

There is a brand new Caravelle running in my city, Ascot Gray... in the sun (or in the open air in general) it is evident that it is not white.
I think the problem is the photo and the fact that it is indoor with the lights off

Agreed - the light can play tricks. Which city do you live in @krider?

I personally would not change my colour, the reason I ordered a big spec highline Kombi,& not a Sportline, or Black edition ,was for the colour choice, colours are personal,& as we are saying, they look different in the light of day.I remember seeing the Sportline brochure in Copper Bronze,& thought WOW, thats what i'm having, then saw one in the flesh, its was a different colour totally. These marketing guys know exactly how to play with our heads..

Hi Guys,

I ordered a indium grey T32 manual Kombi Highline 150 in Oct 2021 through Vanarama on finance lease so I can buy it at the end of the 4 year period.

Extras are:

Twin sliders
Double seat on passenger side with storage (3 kids so the more seats the better!)
2 + 1 rear seats

Vanarama update me monthly with progress. It was expected in October for quite some time, then slipped to Jan, Feb, March and then back to Jan.

They gave me contact details for the VW dealer who they have ordered through (Marshalls) who are pretty helpful. They send me a screenshot of the status which at the time said Status 10 (with production week), Build week 202301 which i guess is Jan 2023. Location Port of Sheerness.

Essentially the van is at status 10 (unconfirmed) and the date just keeps jumping all over the place. They have said not to read too much into it as it changes so frequently.

Last week it was at build week 50, now its at 12 (which I assume is 2023).

I did ask them what the process was in terms of putting orders to VW and how the allocation works. Apparently each dealership used to have a set allocation of xxx kombi, xxx panel vans etc and they used to tell VW which vans they wanted building. They tell me that this is now not the case as the dealerships don't know which vans the factory have the parts to build. Therefore they place all orders at the factory and leave it with them.

Not sure how true all of the above is but thought it may be of interest.

On a side note is anyone worried about things moving towards electric and the values plummeting? Just thinking we are getting closer and closer to 2030 by the time we all get our vans!

Cheers

It's electric car prices that are sliding..not piston engined stuff, try & buy a new Range rover,or Merc G63 @ list. & they're both really good on fuel arnt they .
