T6.1 new order delays

Agreed, and unfair that Vw can re-route vans to their own dealerships.
I don’t know for sure that this re-routing is happening. This was what my supplier initially said that he suspected when he called me with an update yesterday. Following being told this, I lost my temper and was called back and told that they were confident that the vehicles would eventually come through, but they couldn’t confirm when.
So, I’m still unable to say that the re-routing is happening..... sigh.... I just want my vans.

Yes. My understanding is that they buy direct as fleet operators and I understand the V5 thing. Whilst this is not ideal, it makes a big difference on the £££’s.
Yep same for me. For the sake of the extra discount im quite happy that I wont see the V5 until later in the year. Its the same van and once converted I plan on keeping it for a good few years, so having one more keeper on the V5 doesn’t matter to me - but It’s notably cheaper. Which is why I guess VW feel it’s ok to jerk the fleet guys around a bit.

That seems about spot on but the question is..... If you have been waiting 22 weeks to date and got an amazing deal on the discount front, do you stick with it? I have been offered my deposits back, but not sure I can bear starting the whole order process from the beginning! Not to mention the fact that it is unlikely that I could replicate the deal which is currently done with a main dealer. (With the exception of the supply element!)
My VWVC in Newcastle matched my Autoebid quote I’m sure others will do the same.

They wouldn’t or couldn’t when I was looking to order. AutoeBid weren’t as competitive then either. Tried two VWVC’s and neither could get closer that £2k above what I’ve ordered for.

Interestingly that position now seems to be changing, but it certainly want the case back in September from my experience.

I ordered just before Christmas so not sure if they were chasing sales before the year end, he did say they don’t normal do that and give me the typical “since your local” chat.

It seems to me that a common thing for people with delays is that they ordered through a 3rd party rather than a VW dealer? And the ones who ordered through a dealer are coming through on time or even early.
Ordered mine through a dealer to try to get peace of mind made no difference

I ordered mine from VWVC in early October and was lucky enough to get it last week. Chatting to salesman when I picked it up he said something like the group having 80 build slots for 400 orders. Doesn’t sound good.

Okay, start the clock, my order for a T6.1 Kombi went in last week. Lets see when I actually get it.

Now, just when do I put my old T6 up for sale? 4 weeks before I think I may get it? 5 weeks? A week? When it arrives in the UK? Who knows.

Put it up for sale at least 12 weeks after VW say youre getting it built, then maybe with a couple of weeks to sell you might not be far off. I nearly sold my Range Rover in Dec anticipating mine yet glad I didnt

So in seven months time? I hope not, but it took seven months for my T6 to arrive, so who knows.

At least we won’t have locks that freeze in July.
If we’re lucky it’ll be dry then too, so should avoid leaky windows for a month or two!

Nope, still radio silence on mine as well. Allegedly an update at the end of the month.......I fear it won’t be what I want to hear though

You were lucky in my experience. I tried our local VWVC, they couldn't even arrange a test drive, or be bothered to return phone calls (this wasn't in lockdown!). One other laughed when I told them my target price. Said they couldn't buy them for that.

Autoebid were flawless, ordered October and van arrived in January! Will be ordering new car from them soon.

1st keeper on V5 too.

Everyone has different experiences, that's why forums like this are invaluable.

So, in my quest to get some clarity about what is going on with factory orders, I spoke with a VW dealer earlier who was very open and frank.

Appears that they are equally affected and it isn’t just fleet suppliers. The one I spoke with said that a third of their vans on order suddenly lost build dates recently and only a few have been reassigned a new build date. They aren’t getting any real clarity from VW, apart from the fact that issues are a combo of Brexit supply chain issues, Covid absences and microprocessor shortages. Kombi’s and 199 engines have been a notable issue, although it isn’t isolated to these versions. There is also an issue of adjusting to new emission requirements post April for some models.

So, not much positive news there, apart from the factory is still building them - just slower than we need, and with no idea of when for many of us. And exactly who is lucky and who isn’t, seems to be largely a lottery. Appears I’ve bought the most expensive lottery ticket of my life!

Allegedly, VW may be able to provide some more clarity later next week. I’m not holding my breath though.
