T6.1 new order delays

Hi just joined the forum as I’d ordered a new t6.1 through a 3rd party and have just received an email from them cancelling my order. This is what they said.

We have been struggling to get VW to give us build slot updates since December thinking it was Brexit related but it seems it wasn’t .



VW have just cancelled all our van orders due to huge cutback of van allocation planned for the Uk in 2021



Covid is likely to of played a major part of it so we assume the first action area was any internet based orders as they have no direct loyalty to the customers who have by-passed ordering through their retail showrooms at higher prices .

Where do I go from here ?

What had you ordered? Just in case it was of interest, Beadles Chelmsford had a cancelled order two weeks ago, a lwb starlight blue kombi.

I guess you have 3 choices:
- re-order direct with VW, but waiting times seem high.
- find a cancelled order in the VW network
- buy second-hand

What did you order ? Someone like @BognorMotors seems to have good vans for sale.

I’m going to be gutted if I get an email like that this week. Ordered back at the start of October via 3rd party and have been told I will be getting an update this week. Not sounding too promising. Had on order a t30 150 lwb , with a lot of bells and whistles on it. Anyone have any suggestions if this falls through ?

Finally able to add to this post. Ordered 2nd week December. Just been built. Due early March. Kombi 150ps manual. Shorter than dealer quoted.

I ordered a LWB shuttle bus Oct last year and have been told week 15 but hopefully before it was supposed to be here end of last year then week 9 then VW said that all the vans have gone to week 15 and he couldn’t tell me anything else

Finally able to add to this post. Ordered 2nd week December. Just been built. Due early March. Kombi 150ps manual. Shorter than dealer quoted.

So, after having initial ordered cancelled yesterday afternoon, I got some great help and service from Heritage in Bristol and placed a new order with them yesterday afternoon and got confirmation last night.

Fortunately for me, they had a close match on order already to become one of their stock vans. So they were able to adapt the order for the extras I wanted, and quoted me a build week yesterday of week 10 (which had just come forward from week 11) so hopefully delivered mid April. A quick chat with VW chat just now and this has come forward a touch further and is now an unconfirmed week 9.

Fingers crossed it will be confirmed shortly. And the convertors have also been incredibly helpful and juggled their slots to accommodate the new estimated delivery date. So looks like I’ve really fallen on my feet with this. What was a distinctly bad news day, ended very much better than it started.

I am surprised at that as I found them absolutely useless when I was buying mine. No call backs and no replies to emails.

Even went through VW HQ who said they would get them to call me. Nothing! Glad in the end as Autoebid saved me 5k.

Ah well, glad they got you sorted.

How did you do on price?

Very competitive. A touch more than I was paying originally (which was a very good deal and the best I’d managed to get back in Sept) but given the circumstances, I can’t live with that.

They were also a shade under AutoEbid, so very happy with the outcome - could have been an awful lot worse on both build date and price.

Ordered second week in December T32 Kombi 150 4Motion manual. Just been on the VW chat line and was told my order is still on waiting list for a production slot. Dealer said April so early days yet.

My forecast of a 33 week wait has recently been cut to 27 by a move of build from week 15 to 9; though it’s still unconfirmed! so no breath being held!
