T6.1 new order delays

It’s is very irritating and I feel that the way that the failed supplier dealt with this was shocking.

I would steer well clear of them for anything in the future and advise anyone else the same.

In the last three weeks I was told that there were issues, and I explained that I could deal with the delay so long as they could definitely come up with the ordered vehicles. I have repeatedly been told by them that they would be able to supply the vehicles at the agreed costs and to that end I have been immensely patient only to find out that they want and extra chunk of dosh in order to restart the entire ordering process!
I regret that I swore so badly at them on the phone today but they said something about “blaming vag”........ you can imagine my response to this! (“The only vag to blame around here is you bunch of....!”)
It makes you wonder if they put the order in with vw when you originally paid a deposit.
I haven’t got my van yet and in no hurry as I will keep my T5 for a while as it doesn’t owe me anything but have been kept well informed by the dealer and had a good discount.

I'm dying to know who this mysterious third party is!
They take varying forms, but one inescapable fact is consistent ......none have been able to deliver. Which has left plenty of us having to come up with a plan B!

@T 6.1 idiot @Randolph @Keredewor

Let's just say that if you have a vehicle on order which is going to be registered as a fleet vehicle and then transferring the V5 to you at a later date, I wouldn't hold out any hope of the supplier fulfilling the order.

Regrettably I feel that my situation is my own fault for trusting one of these companies. Deep down I knew it was on the edge of dodgy when I processed the order. Having said that, I feel that company in question were aware of their inability to supply for some time before I was advised and this has angered me. (See my post #357 back on 22nd Jan!)

I have no proof of this and therefore wont "name and shame" on a forum.

I am having to start again with a reputable and decent company and can just hope that re-joining the queue is as painless as possible!

Name and shame ....the Company name for its behaviour ....................resulting in the failure to proceed ...................not the contractual nuances

To be fair, I’m not sure it’s that simple. VW seem to have been a significant part on the outcomes here, so not sure we can blame the 3rd party suppliers, who are ultimately in the hands of VW for supply (Caveats may apply for other‘s experiences!)

I think we were all driven to these suppliers by the competitive pricing available via fleet suppliers, which at that point VW dealers either weren’t able to offer, or weren’t prepared to. If VW dealers had been competitive when I first ordered, I would definitely have gone that route, and I know that’s the view of others in the same boat.

There is now a degree of chaos in the factory order processes (see also the vwcaliforniaclub chat) and with extra Covid absences, chip shortages, new emissions standards and VW misjudging demand from UK post Brexit, it’s all become a bit complex around factory orders. And that is squarely on VW, not the 3rd party suppliers.

Collectively, VW appear to have used this opportunity to reset the balance in their favour, and to push retail buyers into VW van centres. To be fair the VW dealers now seem able to offer better deals than they were, but my view is that you can track most of this back to VW. So whilst I’m personally frustrated by the last 6 months, I don’t blame the 3rd party.

It's not about naming and shaming it's about letting people make an inform decision about these suppliers. It would be incredibly useful information because I guarantee most of these third parties will still take orders for vans they don't know will arrive or not. If we knew which ones have had vw pull the rug out from underneath them, then we know who to believe.

The simple answer to that is just use a VW dealer or AutoeBid, who will simply get the best deal they can for you from a dealer (who as per my last are clearly now more competitive and very close to fleet pricing if you push them)

Anyone offering a fleet side deal (ie you won’t get the V5 until end of year 1) is vulnerable to VW cancelling orders or simply not prioritising them

I agree with Ozi. If you go with a fleet operator then you are, in the current climate, taking a risk of nothing turning up. The attraction of 20.5% was too much to pass up but with dealers now offering 16% without any arguing (this wasn't the case in the summer when I was looking originally) then it is the safest option. Dealers seem to want more business so they are now more competitive. At least then you know where you stand with them (order number etc).

The company I was with said, in our last conversation, that VW are only offering 110 startlines until at least June and if I wanted to re-order that it would be towards the end of the year!

Out of curiosity, I had a quote from Nationwide and their price was around £300 less than the dealer. It would seem the fleet sales are now more expensive and with V5 retention situation they aren't really a viable option anymore.

Hi All, Hacked off with my VWVC as yet again got the "software problems on my computer,,, will ring you back" bollocks today. Guess what no call back. I Rang another local VWVC to see if there was any chance of transferring my order to them (bit cheeky but worth a try) I can inform this group they have a cancelled order they offered me; that has a confirmed build week of 8 they expect it to be delivered mid March. It is a LWB Ravenna Blue Kombi T32 199 DSG lots of spec. If anyone is serious about changing supplier I dont reckon it will hand about. What I do know so far is:
Power doors, manual tailgate, heated swivels, twin battery, larger fuel tank, rear camera, carpet in cab, detachable towbar.
If anyone wants more info where it will be as I say a vwvc. Let me know by PM. Cheers Woodman

Hi, I'm just about to start calling around more dealers for a price to replace my current T6 with a newer version so would be interested to know what discounts people are managing to get please?
The first one I have called the dealer discount was around 10%.
