T6.1 new order delays

Hi All
Just thought I would post an update to my journey. I was told yesterday that my order had been cancelled. Like so many others. I foolishly thought I was ok as I had not been told a few months ago like many others had. The 3rd party said they thought that they had spoke to all. I must of been lost in the system! They have refunded my deposit. Now I am at the back of a que again after my first order was placed 6 months ago. To say I am not happy is an understatement.
Sorry to hear. Did you order direct with a vw van centre?

Two weeks ago after having made a written complaint to VW the week before: I was given some vain promise that in week 12 I should get status 20 for a build week of 16...guess what still provisional week 18 and no help from my dealer to really try and reinforce my case. I am disillusioned by the whole experience and the enjoyment of buying and owning my first ever brand new (4 wheeled) vehicle is now becomming a bitter experience that I doubt I will ever want to repeat with VW. Its a real shame because I like the product. I dislike the customer service.
I share your frustration that a lifetime aspiration has become such an awful experience.

It’s bizarre. You place an order for a £40000 plus product and 3 months later the van centre or salesman can’t even give you a build date

Yes I have an order I placed in November that I am told I can’t expect before October. It took 3 months to tell me that news. My order form had estimated delivery March.

Bloody hell I’d be asking for interest on the deposit they’ve had for 6months for forgetting to inform you. My order was cancelled at the beginning of feb like the others on here but managed to order from Vw direct and mines getting built this week so I’ve been lucky.
Really feel for you mate

It's nothing out of the ordinary.had it with bikes..in the past.
Never get them when they say you will.
Just put a deposit on a gr yaris.
Expected delivery...Next may.

Hi.
No the order was with a 3rd party. They did say they could reorder for me but it would be November or December before I would see it.
The prices have gone up since the 1st March too so would they honour you first quote

They said they would but I don't think I trust that I would not be in the same situation 6 months later if vw pull more 3rd party sales. Looking into Autoebid. From what I gather they link you with a vw dealer so then you are dealing direct. Please correct me if I have got that wrong. Just now need to see how the numbers work.

I am waiting for the new excuse that my flux capacitor is stranded on a ship in the Suez Canal blocked by the Evergreen ...how long til VW cotton on to that excuse?

I'd be tamping! Not much you can do I know but very poor customer service. I feel your pain bud.

You are correct, that's how Autoebid work. I had to do exactly this as my 3rd party failed to source a van. I was lucky that this was 7 weeks ago. Autoebid offered the best deal and it was an easy decision.

Dude. I'm gutted for you. I'd be so tempted to buy a stock Leighton or something.

So i've managed to get hold of a contact, via a third party, at the VW factory who says he can have a few words with production for those that have been waiting 4 months plus...the only name of the contact he would give is 'LWG' and that he mainly works on the assembly line for Kombis......but, he can turn his hand to anything and its willing to post his bank details to those that feel could benefit from his inside knowledge and links.! :p

  • Haha
Reactions: CAB
Just had VW (Hull) on the phone, the Transporter 6.1 DSG 4-Motion I ordered at the beginning of February has left the factory and is due to land in their dealership on 23rd April.
IF that is correct that is a 12 week lead-time, not bad at all.
@Magnus The media nav has a SIM card fitted by the factory, do you know if that works like a tracking device?

Yep, he’s definitely the man to tap up. What he doesn’t know about leaky windows and how to fit them just right so they piss every new owner off, isn’t worth knowing.

For an extra bung, he’ll also ensure your new van arrives with a dodgy drivers door lock mechanism for winter use.

I went with autoebid in the end. After contacting 5 dealers for quotes, I saw @VioletVW had used them and I thought I would give it a go. I would recommend them.

“Tamping”...... miss that! (Moved from Pembrokeshire 20 years ago.) I think this thread is full of people that are “Tamping”!

After being thoroughly messed about by Vanzone where I was expecting delivery of a new vehicle in late 2020.....

Being told that Vanzone couldn’t supply any vehicles in early March 2021....

Ordering vehicles again with a “proper“ company in mid March 2021....

Keeping fingers crossed that I will get a vehicle in July or maybe August 21.....

Today, a service of my existing vehicle has presented a number of expensive faults which are likely to be required to be fixed “imminently“!

I planned to get rid of my aged vehicle at the end of 2020. This was obviously messed up by the lack of (expected) new vehicle from VW. I am now asking myself if the stress caused by ordering VW’s is worth it?

Why am I bothering? I now really regret entertaining the thought of new VW vehicles. The whole process has sucked and I am thoroughly fed up!

Totally understand. I bought another car from first search to driveway in two weeks recently. What a pleasure that was and fun the car is to own. This will be 12 to 18 months. I have been let down by a converter, a 3rd party and a main dealer and signed 3 contracts and paid 3 deposits since September. Now reached the stage where I am very wary of everyone and this is costing me at least £3k-£5k with the delay.
There are so many customers so hacked off with very reasonable budgets being treated with disdain. It’s really not what I was expecting either.

@Samro
Tamping is still commonplace in South Wales

I've had a similar issue. I have a 2010 Passat B6 that now has 200,000+ miles on the clock and has been fantastic. I was planning on trading her in around November when my van was supposed to arrive. Anyway, having been messed about and joining that back of the queue in February, the dual mass flywheel has started knocking... Not a cheap fix and with the milage of the car, it's not something I'm going to repair. Simply not worth it. Obviously the value of the car will plummet accordingly.

This whole process has not been the enjoyable one I was expecting.
