T6.1 new order delays

Ordered the new van that was due on or before the 1st of September , now been told it’s been put back to an ETA of the 1st of October.
Apparently it’s built but because of the back log due to COVID it’s stuck in Germany apparently.
Anyone else having problems with delivery and ETA of their vans ?
I sold my T5 on Friday to a good friend who’s now in Weymouth on his Holidays, only found out on the Thursday of the new ETA of the T6.1.View attachment 81780
Had the same, ordered my T6.1 in January, delivery mid April, had email last week saying delays due to covid 19, maybe September, when i spoke to dealership they said realistically December or Janurary, credit to them i feel they were upfront and fair with what they said, I've cancelled my order and got a refund on my deposit, I need a van for April, managed to pick up ex demo, colour i wanted and slightly better spec so makes up for not being brand new, thing is its only going to get worse, dealerships need to stop sand bagging customers with fairy-tale excuses on delivery dates, they have no idea when stock will be produced and manufactured it changes by the day, pre -covid I worked and have friends in Germany, they are miles behind us with vaccine programmes and about to be hit with 3rd wave, the car industry and manufacturing in Germany is going to take months even years to recover from this, the infection rate in industrial areas of Germany is frightening, the inferstructer behind the big factorys is also shot to bits, dealerships need to be upfront and realistic with customers, any metal coming off the production lines will be a spit in the ocean compared to the demand irrespective of brand, personally I see a shortage of new vehicles being beneficial to the 2nd hand market with values and demand rising,

Just to give everyone an update on my situation. Re-ordered via VW dealer on 5th Feb 2021 after my debacle with 3rd party fleet dealer. After reading the posts on here regarding build/delivery dates I was fearing the worst. I asked Autoebid to request an update from the dealer on 25th Feb and was told the following:

"The dealer has confirmed your order is with VW. VW are reviewing orders across all UK dealers to allocate build schedules as they are struggling to meet demand. The dealer is hoping to have this information in the next 1-2 weeks and then will be in touch."

I emailed Autoebid again today as a week and a half has passed, to be honest I wasn't expecting anything positive. However, I got an email back confirming that my van has a current build date of week 14 with an estimated delivery in April!

I am shocked and happy to say the least.

For info, I have ordered a Kombi Highline T30 SWB 110PS with a few factory extras.

My van has been built and is currently in transit to the UK. I have been advised this take 3-4 weeks, so, I'm looking at mid to late April.

I can only guess that my order from September last year from 3rd party (which was cancelled) was still on the VW system, and that my new order (via VW dealer) was allocated to it from February.

Getting excited now.

This is what I think happened to me because mine has just been built to after reordering in Feb

I believe the Chinese mission to Mars to mine the plutonium for my flux capacitor is being planned to launch in 2023 but that depends on the shipment of noodles stuck in the suez canal being freed to allow the pot noodle manufacture for the crews. The test monkeys to check the corona virus vacine is suitable for interstellar space travel have all gone on strike...the upshot is who knows when I will get a confirmed build date?

Been into live chat again this morning chasing info on my kombi order placed 8th jan. They said it’s been accepted at the factory on 3rd March. Whatever that means. But no build week given.

Did you give them your previous order number then? Did you explain you had a van cancelled?
Did you pay more?
I didn’t know my previous order number.
I told the Vw dealer that my order had been cancelled and it cost me a little bit more yes but not much and I would of gone straight through the Vw dealer if I’d of known how close they could get to the 3rd parties quote

Yes dealers do sometimes shoot themselves in the foot. The dealer I really wanted to use never wanted to talk to me again after I said I was talking to a 3rd party. I was negotiating and he just gave up and never replied after. Despite offering him the chance to quote at every stage of my journey. The whole process has been very strange...

your journey is ahead of schedule now @Woodman as the Suez Canal is now open.

Hi All
Well it all starts again. After cancelled order from 3rd party last week, Today placed a new order. Got a good price through Autoebid and actually spoke to a real VW dealer this afternoon. Now just have the wait, again !

Good to hear @Stu90

Been on that journey myself this year and fell lucky with second order. Did you manage to find out what their build allocation month is for your order?

No. But they did say that the vw system is all over the place. Said it should be with me this year. Which is a start. Did say they have had Van's delivered before the system said they had been built.

Just ordered a new VW Golf with a suggested lead line of about 20 weeks - will see how that goes !

Pete

I think most of us on this board can attest to the VW system being shocking and all over the place!!

At least they aren’t promising the earth, so plenty of scope to under promise and over deliver for you. Just feels good to be sorted I imagine, after experiencing the familiar 3rd party lottery of (very) limited luck

As far as I can tell @Pete C , 20 weeks seems to translate in German to “wild stab in the dark and very unlikely to be 20, and possibly as long as 40......after it’s been accepted by the factory of course”
