T6 Aftermarket Digital Instrument Cluster

Also if you want the VW logo loading onto your dash hop onto my website and have a look in news and updates and if you're one of the people that has been struggling to get that logo to run check those instructions again because there is now a note about compatible drive sizes for the USB and also if you're settings calibration menu has the word reboot at the bottom then you are going to have to click reboot with the USB stick in to get the VW logo and then run through settings. If none of this makes any sense hop onto my sides into the news and update section and read the updated tutorial.

Additionally I have been having some fun with the Halo 11 customising the splash screen and I have generated a USB file with a nice VW load up on it. I will host that for the Halo 11 9 and 7 for those that want it with a short instruction how to install. I've done a nice bit of photoshoppery and think it looks pretty decent. I'm loving playing with these integrations from the DigiDash to the head unit at the moment just trying to find the ultimate setup and I'll be creating a bundle to sell on my site. Including tips and tricks how to get the most out of it. Check my Instagram link in the bio if you want to catch up on a few videos I've thrown out there recently demonstrating it.

I think I'm also going to start doing a screen repair option for those that would like to take their stock head unit with a problem touch screen and convert them to touch screen Android with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto with full synchronisation to the digi dash. For many I think getting all of that out of a stock head unit and adding the digi dash will be an attractive package.
This is very interesting, I’m currently having issues with the discover media head unit (the only part of the touch screen that works is the home button region on CarPlay) I need to get it fixed, do you have any images of how this would run and look etc? Would it also retain the dab+ functionality along with aftermarket reversing camera?

I am very intrigued by the dash but I have a ghost on the vehicle which with the abs not flashing puts me off

Thanks

Yeah I have looked on there, just says coming soon. Just wondered if any expected dates or anything yet?

as @jayc001 says but I’d include removing the key from the barrel in between as well
I have done this too. Including lock and open the car with the key in between. Still the same problem. Weird.
(On first 3 days after installation the Digital Cockpit the problem was not here.)

Have you disconnected the digital cockpit from the internet? For example by changing your password or SSID.

What difference would this make?

Even updating OTA or USB won’t change the previous settings

Did 3 updates already, and non of them changed the previous settings

Most of the time I see the ghost flashes I have to say. And if I'm in one of those.. in a hurry pressed everything too fast and got to do it again, I always see it. Plus, you have the coil light indicating whether you have failed or succeeded after keying back. So ghost visibility is an absolute non entity for considering this upgrade.

Interestingly, my solution would see a VW navi unit working perfectly well, connecting automatically wirelessly and relaying screen to the Digidash. As an added bonus you could still control every part of the screen with any android compatible Bluetooth controller, i.e. remote handheld, with air mouse, track pad, keyboard.. so the touch screen could wait..

My buddy has a bad screen in his Caravelle, so I do intend to make a video demonstrating all of this. I have a few different solutions and I just want to spend a bit more time with both before I opt for one over the other. But subscribe to my mailing list on the site and socials and you won't miss the update when I'm ready.

Trying to keep things as simple as possible for folks. I have been looking into rooting and imaging the devices with the best apps for the job, robust cables, cable lengths, device consistency for connecting to AA and CarPlay, device consistency if permanently powered (leisure side). Since it can take a SIM card and track the vehicle 24/7, but then I'm still tinkering so I pulled the dash apart and re-routed it back to the comfort dash box again lol. I have spent so long messing with all this stuff my wife has now announced she is getting on the car scheme for an EV to run the kids around because she is sick of waiting for me to put things back together.. LOL..

A little ID3 with the biggest battery possible should look ok alongside Everest.. I'm not allowed to mod it though, even the kids have barred me! And you should see their van cinema - it's a marvel!

Change it to off, set/do it. Ignition off, back on, connect to BCM again, set it on again, Do it, ignition off and and this point it should work again. At least it did for me. Just toggling it with out Do it and ignition cycle wouldn't work.
Every time i have changed the firmware this has happened to me and doing the above fixed it. On 2 occasions the setting looked like they were correct so set them all to "off", wrote the code to the van with it running. Locked/unlocked, made a cuppa (15mins), came back and put it back the way i wanted it and all was well. Do find it slightly annoying though.

Also found some of the dash menus dont appear after an upgrade until the van electrics have "gone to sleep".

Touch wood, have not yet needed to disconnect the battery.

All done using VCDS.

Ahh right! I must go misread previous posts where people said it didn’t flash?

Okay this sounds interesting! I look forward to seeing the progress!

Boys never grow up, their toys just get more expensive

Thanks

FYI I never see ghost flashes. Doesn’t affect operation.

After using the digital cluster for quite a while now I am really happy with it.
BUT I do have one problem that drives the perfectionist in me crazy... though it is one of this first-world-problems one can have...
The displayed range does not in any way correspond with the amount of gas in my tank and the average consumption. After filling the tank up to max (80L) it shows a range of 450km at an average consumption of 10.5 L/100km, while VCDS says 750km (double-checked several times).
I always thought that the cluster just takes over the values given from the original Board behind, but that seems not to be the case. Maybe it is just a chinese way of counting or it is simply estimating instead of calculating.

What I did:
- re-setting the calibration entries
- disconnect battery (30mins, over night, two days... does not have any effect)
- re-installed latest update
- tried the reboot-option
- reset trip distance (just to do something)
- switched in the units section from L/km to gallons and back
- told the thing I don't love it any longer
- told the thing I'll tell my wife about everything

Sure I know how far I can drive with a full tank, but would be nice if I could see the right remaining range in the display... and it's a feature that is not rocket-science either

any ideas? help is much appreciated :)

This is a known bug, its currently being worked on so will be resolved in a future update

SO tomorrow. I plan to put together some helpful videos for the Virtual Dash / Digital Dash / Digidash- this will include (time-stamped):

- Revert from Digital back to analogue (full reverse), i.e. sale or regret (latterly doubtful).
- Full Unboxing of the unit as received, including fitting kit
- Full Install tips and setup, including dash cut & calibration, and usage
- Things to be aware of: Troubleshooting help, i.e. installed speed alert return, dashboard signalling disappearance and known fixes (to date) should you ever experience any of them.

I will try to do it with minimal editing, so let's see how it goes. I must remember not to ramble on, as I tend to do once I get onto my favourite subjects. I am hoping this guide will serve as a decent install reference for the kit to enable you to decide whether to purchase or enquire about supply and fitting: www.everest-vw.co.uk

Either way, if you find it useful, please share with others, and if you feel the need, please like and subscribe, as I will be adding more to the channel, particularly concerning reviewing stuff I have adapted and upgraded on my Cali Ocean over the years, I genuinely thought the list was complete, the list is never complete! We know this now!

(I will post what I have done around the van in another thread just in case others want to quiz me on my life choices)
Hi can you do a video for the setup of the android auto for the t6 it's
currently unusable in my setup so hoping I've done something wrong

That would be useful. I've tried direct with cable and via a wifi dongle, no luck. But my phone is using Graphene OS, so quirks are expected.
