T6 Heated Steering Wheel retrofit

It has been a while since I started my HSW retrofit project, and after a busy period, I’m finally getting back to it. Thanks to @Robert, @DJ821, and @Jan_B for sharing pictures, ideas, and the switch button. I made some upgrades to my clock spring. I didn’t use the yellow rubber ring from the donor clock spring; instead, I mounted one of the transparent tapes (the longest one) from the original unit. This modification ensures that all the tapes align with the original pattern. Now, I’ll test everything to see how it performs—hopefully, it works as expected.

I haven't installed my new clock spring yet, but I think I'll do it like you.
It looks better than the yellow rubber!

The yellow rubber is a spacer to make sure the tapes travel in sync
Might not look good but its there for a reason. When I've built my slipring back in 2016 for my Caddy I had it used a swell and the slirping is still going strong all these years later. Also plenty of lube is the key too
:D

The white transparent tapes does exactly the same thing as the yellow rubber ring. Therefore I decided to use one of them. The original T6 slipring has no rubber ring the spacers are the transparent tapes. I use silicon based grease it seems working as a charm (on the bench).

Are you sure that you used the longest one?
I tried it today, but the longest transparent tape is too long!

I'm guessing no companies are doing these conversions yet? I'd love paddles and heating on a nice wheel but have the patience of a toddler. Luckily with the budget of an adult that loves carbon haha

Double checked, you're right it is the shortest one. I marked them with numbers and marked the shortest nr.3 then I messed up in my head (higher number-longer tape)
Sorry it's my mistake, hope you can fix yours
