T6 LWB T30 140 Acapulco blue - Build Thread

Nice, well done that man, dare I ask, is it all finished?

Thanks Dickie,

Not quite finished. Got to finish the trim panel around the roof on the rear and passenger side. Need to install the LED shelf. Need to install the overhead locker. Still to finish lights (on passenger trim panel) and install the switch panel once it arrives.

Also waiting on Kiravans getting stock of the passenger side curtains and passenger swivel.

After all that's done it will be 99% done. Still need to decide on a night heater and an awning. Thinkin I'm going to add an underslung lpg tank which will mean I will go the propex route instead of eberspacher

Thanks @Victoria Alletson and @scotia

@scotia In the end I went for black out curtains from Kiravans. They are easy to fit and good quality and the rail system seems robust. I was wanting Vanshades but after talking to Pete the owner I realised it wasnt going to happen. 3 things were going against me - The fact I fitted a slider behind the drivers seat, the fact I have an LED light shelf from Evo Motion and the fact that I dont want to lose the partial window at the rear. To get past the slider a special pod needs to be used which put the pod 30mm out from flush at the top which would mean I couldnt fit my LED shelf. The way people get round this is by fitting a panel and losing the partial window at the rear and bonding the pod to the rear of the panel. Since I didnt want to lose that window this wasnt an option. So it was a choice between Vanshades or my LED shelf. Also Pete couldnt do a special pod for the partial window for me either so if I chose the Vanshades route I still would have a pod on that rear partial window, so in the end the best option for me was to go with curtains. The £600 saving is a nice bonus :) and will be getting spent on a dash cam kit

Shame. But at least it was gone through to check, and he tried

Great looking van mate, any chance of a front pic of the units with the cupboard open so I can see how far the sink comes into them. I'm just deciding on a sink or not.

Thanks.

Cheers @xpfloyd Just what I wanted to see. I'm going for a different run of units and the fridge will be on the left with the hob above, and the sink into the large cupboard. I'm thinking of having a sink now to help a future sale. I can use the internal of the sink as storage, and possibly make a cover for above the sink as to not lose the space.

Andy

Andy, what's the reason you don't want a sink? Although small I found it handy for watching up cups and plates etc when we had a hire camper

Thanks @Roadrunner , much appreciated. I'm literally learning as I go with the info on this forum and the other forum and numerous questions to the pros. Never done anything remotely like this so I'm proud of the outcome.

With regards to the door I have no idea. It looks like a washing machine has belted it. There were similar dings on the inside of the drivers side rear wheel arch as if something bulky had been sliding about at one point.

I didn't have one in my old van and I like the extra space. Everything in my van is revolving around space saving. I picked a LWB, tailgate, removable compressor on the fridge, battery stored in the rear cupboard etc. The main reason for not having a sink was not ever really using it, and having a carry on washing basket.

I see these converted campers with a sink and double hob in a swb, they have no usable worktop and the cupboards are filled with water containers and gas bottles, poorly designed.

I think I will have a sink, and a fresh water container, then plumb the waste water straight out the van.

Your van looks great @xpfloyd. Wish I had the dough to convert it so quickly.

Great looking van @xpfloyd. Like the large rolla door, I went smaller and already regretting it and should have used the whole cabinet height for the door.

@andys, I put in the smallest sink I could find 280mm round and rather than on board grey water have it plumb to drain externally. Not so good but a better solution when you are looking for all the space you can get.

I don't agree, my van is SWB and has everything including the kitchen sink, crammed into it. But that's how I want it, I like having everything there in case I need it. I don't need lots of worktop because I try and live outside, though there is a little bit if I need it, I don't often use the sink but it's also there if I need it. What I'm trying to say is my layout suits me, your layout suits you, it's only poorly designed if it doesn't work for the user. Horses for courses

I'll be drilling a hole through my floor any day now to plumb away the grey water. I'm also planning on an underslung LPG tank. That will help free up some cupboard space
@xpfloyd I did a similar thing with the grey water from the sink. As I had dual doors I put a hole through the top of the step to the outside. There was a grommet in the centre underneath through the body, don’t know what is was there for but it fitted the hose perfectly through it and the protective panel under that. My problem being a 4motion and beefed up suspension and under body protection, there is no room under there for any tanks, I was originally going to put the water under there but the exhaust that is underneath the drivers side stopped that.

Stick twin spares on hatch, water tanks where the spare sits...
