T6 LWB T30 140 Acapulco blue - Build Thread

I'm going to attach a panel to the back of that tall unit which will be carpeted so you won't be able to see into it. The portion of window that I still have use of is what I want to keep as opposed to blacking it out. I'll attach a curtain and only need to close it as far as the wardrobe.

I'll have a further think before I make a final decision but just can't see how I can get vanshades to work at the same time as maintaining use of the partial rear window

Edit - just re-read your post and realised I got you wrong the first time. I considered a curtain for that window and vanshades for the rest but not sure how that would look . I think it would annoy me as it would look mismatched

@xpfloyd perhaps if you speak to Pete? at Vanshades and explain the issue and send a photo (the one you've posted would be excellent) he might be able to make a modified pod with offset slider 'knob' to enable a pod to be usable. I know that he is very helpful and has excellent customer service as @T6 Dave has testified in the past. You may get others suggesting other solutions too.

Good shout, it's worth a try

Defo worth a question for Pete, if he can help, I know he will.. As a thought in the meantime, the handle on the van shade could be removed. And relocated forward on that one unit.. I think, and although a slight pain, you can open them offset, but will try later today.. Up late as been playing with one of my other toys...

Finally got to have a look at the van shades handle...

It's located in a tracking, with a clip, looks like a small screwdriver to pop the clip, move handle in track, the press the clip closed and that's that..

Opened and closed the shade using the front 1/4 of the shade.. No problems  so theoretically possible.. Hope this helps you

@xpfloyd so the only issue is positioning the handle and the rebate in the pod frame to receive it to achieve full blackout. A word with Pete, mention @T6 Dave's test and ask if you send a picture can he help and is it possible to position the handle fairly close to the shelving side support? My opinion is that Vanshades are safer around the cooking area in any case as there is a risk of curtains blowing if you have the sliding window open behind the hob area. I appreciate that they are not a cheap option but why spoil such a beautiful job by not getting the right items to give you full and easy blackout?

Cheers @T6 Dave @T6 Dave's Dad . I will phone Pete on Tuesday and see what he says. Would be good if I can make it work, I have budgeted for them anyways. The other thing I was thinking after realising how hot my van gets on hot days (I dont have aircon), was that Vanshades would be good when we are not in the van but its a hot sunny day as we could leave them in the closed position when away from the van and the built in foil should reflect the heat should it not? keeping the van cool

Or am I just trying to talk myself into them more?

@xpfloyd Daft observation and trick.. If you have comfort closing enabled, when you walk up to van on a hot day, you press and hold the unlock button, and the Windows go down until you release button.. Same when you lock, but they go up until you release.. And it works from a fair distance.. At least then when you get to it, it's started cooling down inside  and yes they should help

Yeah I enabled that with Carista app. The main reason I bought Carista was to try and enable the digital speedometer but couldnt get it to work. However, on the way home after getting my B14s fitted I decided to change it so that it no longer told me the kph in the corner and showed my odometer instead and hey presto the digital mph appeared on the main screen!! You must not be allowed to have both mph and kph on the display at the same time for safety reasons. Other things I like that I enabled with Carista are tear wipe and auto door lock when moving

Good progress made today since the weather was nice -

Made ply panels for the barn doors and carpeted them -

Then I fitted the fridge. Still to connect it to the battery but wanted to get it in and get the metal on the van at the rear folded over to allow the fridge to sit in properly -

I then made plywood trim pieces to finish off around my pop top frame. I carpeted these and fitted them using super sticky velcro. Seems to have worked but will see if it lasts -

@T6 Dave - Dont suppose you can post a photo of your vanshade on the window behind the drivers seat? I want to compare where the vanshade frame ends in relation to my trim piece in the last photo above

@travelvolts - I just paced an order on your site mate (Order 10226). It wouldnt let me pay online? so I done a bank transfer instead. Let me know if theres any issue but it should be with you now. Cheers

@travelvolts is it normal to get 11 volts at the terminals of the 4 and 6 way fuse boxes with the fuse removed? I assume it is as both are doing it but thought I would check

Progress update - Almost finished!!

240V fuse box wired up and attached to the trim panel behind the tall wardrobe
