Hello all, finally got round to trying to tackle this job today. We have managed to fit all the parts with @Pauly 's loom but seem to still be having some coding problems. All the seperate parts of the lights work with the ignition on but with the engine running when you switch the lights on,the drl's dim but the lights do not come on. We have the Lights and Vision menu and the lights are adjusting when you switch on.We have a couple of errors as well. The first photo is my original coding, the second and third are after following @Robert 's coding and after that is the faults we have, any advice will be very welcome, thanks very much

Hello all,so we made good progress tonight. Managed to get everything working properly,Led headlights, seperate drl's and led fog lights. There is still one fault showing up which i am pretty sure is just a minor coding error so if @Pauly ,@Robert ,@ChrisR , @mmi or anyone else has any idea please let me know. The first photo is the fault code, second is my present long coding and the third is the van with the lights working. Big thanks to @Pauly for the loom and advice,@Robert for doing all the early work on this thread and massive thanks to Mike at M-Tech in Carlisle for once again doing a great job on my van.

Byte 16 in yours is not OEM. Shouldn't it be C0?

Interesting. I had the exact same error after completing my retrofit, but after some advice from other far more knowledgeable folks than me, I left it alone. My lights work perfectly, as does the rest of the electrical system. If I plug VCDS in now it will still report the same intermittent error after several months, but no problems with the functionality of the lights or van.

Could you please post (at least) the BCM section (09) of a scan? Also a full scan will do.

Hmmm.... another interesting one is byte 22 - when you turn on high beam, does the low beam remain on? OEM code is 79.

I think you can turn off bulb monitoring to get rid of that (tick the box not untick)
I did have something similar on mine where the van logged that and it cleared when I swapped out the power module, I noticed my lights were lagging on one side and came on a split second later, not really a problem but when flashing main beam if it was a quick flash only one side would light up

Hello and thanks. @mmi ,for Byte 16,when we tried it at C0,it showed up 3 faults, the low beam one we have now and the same fault for both high beams. The Byte 22 one, when we tried the low beam forced off with high beam,it did not alter the function of the lights at all but still showed the 3 faults, yes, the low beam remains on when you turn on high beam,is it not supposed to? I will get a scan when i go back to the garage through the week. @ChrisR ,it sounds like its exactly the same as yours then which if it has not affected anything after a while then thats good to know. Loom worked a treat @Pauly ,we would have had the job done in about 7 hours if we didnt struggle with the coding so thanks,i dont think the main beam is doing that but i will check later on

yes,the low beam remains on when you turn on high beam,is it not supposed to?

Yes, low beam should stay on with high beam. In the case of these LED lights, the low and high beam are exactly that. The Low beam projects the lower half of the beam pattern onto the road. When you switch full beam on it simply adds the upper section of the beam to project the light much further up the road.

Yes, they both should stay on. Per coding I had expected yours wouldn't have both on. Just checked my notes (here VCDS Tweaks. ) and the byte 22 on mine does have the effect. Byte 22 with value 7D (as on yours) throws on mine faults:
03641 - Output Module for LED Headlamps; Right
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
03645 - Output Module for LED Headlamps; Left
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
So perhaps there is something different.

Hi Gentlemen,

I would like to thank you for your step by step guide of how to retrofit LEDs. I don't have any automotive and electrical knowledge, but your posts gave me guts to try it.
I decided to do part 1 first, only headlights with its wiring and didn't have any problems. A friend helped me with coding and everything works great. It is night and day difference compared to halogen one.

Now I am bravely moving to 2nd part, installing auto range control. I have ordered all the parts but I'm stuck at wiring diagram. Partly because I can't read the numbers due to low picture quality and partly because I am not sure if I understand it correct. I made a list with pins for wiring and would kindly ask if you guys can check it and make it complete, please.

It may encourage even more people with less knowledge to try it by themselves.

I own LHD Caravelle 2017

Thanks a lot again.

Hi Robert.

Thanks for reply. Sure it helps by showing how to wire range control unit with headlights and it helped me a lot in first part. But I still need part where shows how to connect range control module to both level sensors and BCM pins. Maybe you can post more clear wiring diagram for range control unit from page 9, so I can read the pin numbers?

There you go :).

I made up these sheets when I did mine to match the pins, you may find them of use.

Robert and Paul thanks a lot. You solved my problem. I would just like to clarify 2 things.

1. Pin 24 on range control module is ground and I connect it anywhere to the body?
2. Do you have a picture or illustration of holder C where fuse 30 is located? So I can locate it easily without guessing, please.
