I am wanting to change my 100w solar panel for a 200w solar panel. At present there are no isolation switches installed in the solar system. Where would these need to be installed, and what type of switches would be required?

If you want to fit a isolation point.

It needs to be on the panel positive side wire, any where along the cable run, where ever is most practical for your install.

You could just fit a mc4 connector or other plug.

If you want to fit a switch or breaker, out needs to be rated for the max PV power plus some over head.

A 200w panel will have a isc Max current around 12A @ 18v... So look at getting a 20A or higher switch or breaker. (If looking at a breaker out must be a DC type, not AC)

Example here...

Fwiw..
.

You can get a second 100w panel , then add that to get 200w.

It's recommended that both (or more) be the same make and model.

...

You could also fit any mobile panel with a seperate controller to run alongside your existing 100w roof panel.

fwiw . .

i use a DC breaker on my solar shed.

but as you see they are sizable,

so the smaller isolation switches may be more suitable in a camper conversion?.
