The Amarok is dual purpose by virtue of the "is so constructed or adapted that the driving power of the engine is, or by the appropriate use of the controls of the vehicle can be, transmitted to all the wheels of the vehicle" bit.
motor vehicle means a mechanically propelled vehicle intended or adapted for use on roads
Whether something is a van or not makes absolutely no difference. If it qualifies as dual purpose then the car speed limits apply. If it doesn't qualify then the lower limits apply. If you add the word "however"... and remember it says "Most" (not all)
Vans, car-derived vans and dual-purpose vehicles
Most vans under 7.5 tonnes laden (loaded) weight, including Ford Transit vans:
- have a lower speed limit than cars
- must follow the speed limits for goods vehicles of the same weight
however..
A vehicle qualifying as a
‘car-derived van’ or ‘dual-purpose vehicle’ has the same speed limits as a car.
That's my last take on this one.... I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree, it is after all, for now at least, a free world. I can assure you however that I am not just expressing my opinion here. I have some.... "professional knowledge" of the subject.
