Hello, just picked up and returned my t6, so when i looked round and test drove the van it was great, when i picked up yesterday, i picked it up in the evening and finalised the payment. I noticed it was pulling to the right and thought the tracking might be off. so this morning i noticed that the left wheel arch/fender wasnt quite straight. on further inspection it looks like it took a knock on the front left and the garage tried to fix it. the plastic inner liner is slightly out of place and damaged. then i realised the trim around the light is not square either, not massively but not right. then i wiggle the left front lower bumper and there is squeaking and more movement than should be.
So short story is the garage wasnt straight with me an think they may have tried to hide a know in the time they had the van since i initially test drove it.
Called the garage and i took it straight back. they said they would put it right.
I guess whats playing on my mind is will there likely be any damage to the frame if it has had a left fender whack?
also anyone know hat my rights are in this scenario. also would i be best putting this right myself regardless of the fact i just shed out & 23k plus

thanks

Daniel

If your not happy ,ask for a full refund . Consumer Rights Act 2015. I had an issue recently where i returned the vehicle and was fully refunded.

Full refund - they’ll fall over themselves to fix it, especially if the registration documents have been sent off!

I really like the van, great mileage and spec, drives great apart from the left hand wheel arch, trim alignment.. but will there be hidden gremlins.. just concerned they may not fix it right. I guess i will see what they do in the next few days. then take it from there..

Is there a duration with my right of return and refund?

Thanks for the advice

Daniel

Best to google "Consumer rights act 2015" and have a look for yourself ,it's pretty straight forward if you click on the which assistance part .

Has it got some sort of stick on wheel arches ?
Maybe the bumper has been taken off at some point and not put back on properly?

At the end of the day, I can get a new front wing and plastic arch protector for 180, just need to get it sprayed and put on. I am however assuming an impact of this size to not crook the sub frame. Inside the bonnet there is no sign of damage what’s so ever so kind of leaning towards it being cosmetic. But I am no expert and the forum advice greatly appreciated

I had I similar situation with a T6 I bought, trouble Is over time you start noticing more things and then it’s too late to return it. I ended up returning my T6 for a number of issues, funnily enough it had orange peel and a paint lacquer masking line on the passenger front wing / bumper, makes you wonder what the damage was.

Yeah this is the thing it has been had a sloppy repair.. paint on indicator lens and so on. So if there is anything that I can’t see I can only presume they didn’t fix it.. uurrgh, they have the van currently. He said he would put it right. I guess your right it could end up being an endless mess of issues..

Just can’t find another van for the spec, and I guess this might be the reason

Kk gonna give this garage a chance to put it right. If not happy will ask for a refund . I have 30 days is what understand from consumer rights so I raised it within 12 hrs of getting it I should be covered

It’s highly unlikely to be structural, it looks cosmetic, but nevertheless I’d be annoyed if it happened in their care and custody and nobody told you.

They need to put it right, get it wheel aligned and offer a sincere apology, anything less and you should make it clear that you’ll reject it.

On a similar subject, my van was in for a big service at my local VAG independent. All completed on time and to the quoted price so I left them a good Google review etc.
But frustratingly the next day I discovered they’d knocked my ABT splitter either trying to get the van on the 4 poster lift or out on a road test. Luckily for them I’m able to unclip my bumper, lift the front and clip it all back into position again. They clearly knew what they’d done because they’d tried to clip it all back together again but one of the clips was bent over on itself so the bumper was sticking out proud (hence I noticed it).

thanks for the reply. yeah good call on all points and will make this clear when i see it.
Many thanks

Think i just figured out what is going on, so if you look closely at the picture of the fender, you can see some crumple on the metal work. I recon this has slightly shortened the reach of the fender to the front bumper. to make it fit they have had to push the front pumper tighter and further round than it should go and this has made all the trim come out of alignment. The squeaking sound as i move it is probably because the tension doesn't make the retaining bolt underneath line up.
This is of course total speculation but i recon this is the part fault and the cause of it all.
Will keep you posted as to the dealer response.

So the plot thickens.. not in a good way. So i picked it up yesterday evening and they have put the body work straight and stated they did the tracking, supplied the print out so thought everything is hunkydory. While driving back it is still quite substantially pulling to the left.. doh so took it to my local f1autocentre which uses the latest blue tooth computer system to calculate everything and they said the rear tracking was well out. I then picked it up and took it for a drive down the dual carriage way and it is just as bad..
So i spoke to VW and they cant do anything for over a month, so called my local audi vw specialist who looks after my audi a3 and he thought i sounds like a bent arm, or mis aligned spring arm, or alike.

the tracking place will take another look tomorrow but the audi vw place cant see it until Tuesday.

Should i just send it back and ask for my money back or persevere with it.

already getting a bad taste from this whole thing.

only wanted a clean van to have adventure with my 8old over the summer.. not this head ache

There are a couple of issues for me: the fact the van was bent; and, the disingenuous responses you’re getting.

If it was me, I’d go down the “return and refund” route! They will jump to it then. However, that doesn’t fix the “dealer is a liar” factor and I’d be concerned about their responsiveness for issues you haven’t identified or encountered yet!

You’ll still get to have fun with your young lad - just not at the expense of a van you’re always fretting about.

Yeah when i told him he said 'oh it drove straight last night when i took it for a drive...' um apparently not. Stated i have booked into a my local specialist who reaffirmed it should drive straight a true and probably has a bent arm of sorts. ~However i have been put onto a specialist alignment company who is local to me which is good and does the full body alignment test apparently and will be able to tell me exactly whats wrong. from there if its serious i will return it. I guess i shouldn't be having to fork out my own money on this, just don't trust the dealer. Probably gonna be hard work to get my money back if i go down that route

thanks for the advice and input guys - tough road to walk with no idea as to what is going on.

Be careful. they could say that as you have taken it here and there they will not allow you to return.

Take it back and find another. Clearly not a person to be trusted.

Just take it back mate and ask for a refund. If you don’t, you will have limited confidence in them resolving any further issues you find, and will likely always have a burning itch that all is not right.
