What Have You Bought Today?

To me that's not in the least bit boring. As somebody who had ancestors die in both world wars and personal friends in conflicts since I can only applaud anybody who still takes time to honour the fallen. I've seen some bad shi1t in my time but I've always suspected that none of it comes close to the horrors experienced by those before me. I also worry that generations after me really will find it boring and 'lest we forget' will eventually become just plain forgotten.

Tickets for Le Shuttle.
That might sound as a little boring but given its Rememberance Day, my life has been consumed for the last two weeks learning about a relative that died in 1917 and buried in Godewaersvelde British cemetery on the French/Belgium border.

I need to visit and I am taking my son along for the ride. I'll take in Ypres and other places of interest.
If you’ve not been before, the Last Post being played at Ypres really is something you need to experience in person to appreciate.

I had a Jackery Explorer 1000 V2 delivered by DPD a short while ago. I need to give it a good charge and I'll be comparing it properly to my current V1 tomorrow. It's certainly a bit smaller than the old one and I also need to download the apps to see what facilities are available wirelessly. There's actually nothing wrong with the old one but the ability to fit the new one under the bed when it's down and turn it on and off with the app (if that even possible) will be a big plus point and will probably swing it for me. Assuming it works as expected / hoped, I'll have to decide whether I keep both or sell the old one. TBH, I can't see me wanting or needing to lug both of them around so look out in the 'For Sale /Wanted' section if you're interested in a good condition Jackery Explorer 1000 V1 with carry bag, AC, DC and double solar panel charging cables.

Bought one of these today as it had 20% hopefully there be some good deals on BF for a delta 2

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve just bought one too £65 saving.
I got a delta 2 from Costco when they were £500 so this will be great.
I can’t wait to get my full upgrade fitted.
Just need my arm to heal up from an operation and I will get cracking over the winter.

Going to do my own catches fire like a Golf door closes like a Golf thing.

Seeing the 16mm weatherstrip provided with most such kits brings tales of door closing woe, I've ordered some universal 14mm universal westherstrip with 3M backing.

I deliberately placed a big lump of plasticine in the door shut at various places and slammed the door, and at the widest point where the strip runs the gap is 12mm so a 14mm strip should be perfect.

I'll know soon enough I guess.

I can imagine that being really powerful. The first time I think I heard the last post played live was at the parade for one of the armourer instructors at RAF Cosford whilst I was in training.
I led our Remembrance Sunday church service on the 10th. We have a brilliant trumpet player in the church who will always play the last post and reveille.
RAF Lyneham was my last posting. So many service personnel were repatriated through there. As long as I have anything to do with it we’ll always mark Remembrance Sunday and we’ll never forget.

Went down to see VanGuardian in Leeds and had 4 alarms fitted to our T6.1. Two small ones on the driver and passenger doors and a double on the side and back window. They look really neat, went for the stealth grey that matches the van. Work great as well, just a slight tap anywhere on the van and the units send a warning alarm, if another touch within 10 seconds the alarm then goes off in full. Also got a mounted fob inside in case you need to sound the alarm manually. We do a fair bit of off grid camping so ideal if we are a bit unsure of where we are staying. Also when parked up. The alarm goes off BEFORE anyone tries to enter, or just touching the van or trying the door handles. An alarm inside the van going off when someone is already in the van isn't what we wanted.

I know you can get bike alarms that do a similar thing, but the main point of these is the mounts. The base plate you cant pull off without breaking the plastic. then a housing for the alarm(s) that fit into the base plate and screw down and then a cover plate that goes over that to hide the screws and also amplifies the sound and also looks good.

If you want to see them in action just Google VanGuardian, there are loads of videos on Youtube. Very pleased with them, not a lot of money but a lot of peace of mind

Claiming temporary bragging rights for most expensive purchase of the day as MAN wanted paying for our TGE- arriving soon and then off to be converted. Which will be another eye watering amount….
Don't worry - you can always buy a brand new, fully-converted, Crafter-sized camper for under 60k... according to the knob-jockeys that comment on YT.
