What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Cheers bud, the benefits of doing what I do for work! (I make photobooths for bars/clubs etc) Unfortunately it means I have literally no work at the moment, but I do have lots of time for designing and tinkering :think smile bounce:
I can think of a way to work whilst the main business has dried up a bit. ;)

Cheers bud. All designed and built by me, Will start a build thread at some point and put some more info once its all in etc
Hi there, is that birch ply your using and does it come with that grey covering or did you add yourself ? Been looking to find a source for that type of thing.

Applied some red vinyl wrap to the black badge 'inserts'. The front badge was dismantled and wrap applied top the whole thing but I cut the shapes into the rear one and thought it was OK until I zoomed into the picture and noticed a couple of imperfections where the knife didn't quite go right to the edge. I'll be glad when opticians reopen as I was overdue an eye test before lockdown and things obviously haven't improved since!
I went for matte but I'm not sure now whether gloss would have been a better option as the matte is not particularly red if you know what I mean! That said, at under £5 for a 30mm x 1500mm sheet, it's not exactly expensive (or difficult) to do again if I decide to.

It's called phenolic plywood, it is effectively birch with a coating either side. In 12 and 18mm it is quite easy to get hold of (although a lot of timber merchants have up'd their minimum order due to covid, which can make it more difficult at the moment), to get it in 15mm which is what I have used was a right pain in the ass! Unless you are ordering full pallet's of material, it's very hard to find a merchant who will deal with you! Luckily due to my normal work I have some contacts...

Thanks for that. Quick search shows that they come in 8ft x 4ft sheets. Out of interest how much did you use on your project ?

Do you think it’s possible to do a cam belt and water pump change and not leave any marks in the engine bay ?

Removed the front splitter to re spray it, whoever did it last didn’t do a very good job. Waiting for the paint to turn up now.

Fitted some aftermarket mud flaps to the left hand side. Not sure I like the look but think they'll be more effective so thought I'd try them on one side. Proper scientific test like!

When I did mine, I was able to pop the chrome bit off the rear one and then put the vinyl onto the bit underneath. It doesn’t come away in the same way the front one does but might be worth trying to see if it is the same as the one on my van. If I can find the original post I’ll add a link to it here.

here’s the link

Yes please on the post - I thought the two bits on the back were stuck together (and then stuck to the van) hence my approach. I might have to have another go!
