What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

The Sun was actually out in Cornwall for a change so decided to make the most of it and start on my 'DayVan' conversion on my Kombi SWB.

Got the additional brackets fitted for moving the 2nd row bench back to the 3rd row, flooring cut for new brackets and the 3rd Row seat belts test fitted, so quite pleased with that.

Weather warning for tomorrow so will go watch Argyle take on Leeds instead and get back to it maybe on Sunday :)

Today was less fun, I had the codes read for an engine light it threw on Wednesday, no limp mode, and lo and behold, the dreaded EGR fault sequence, so booked it in for cooler, valve and both uprated pipes. And a service.
If there’s anything left on the credit card I’ll get the brake pads changed to Nutexa cos the orange dust off the current ones is horrific.

First week off for 4 months next week and can’t do the van trip we were planning.

Good job it looks nice

GP7’s repaired & Powder Coated in Golf R Silver. Callipers done at the same time. Stuck on some Gloss Black Navis Centre Caps to set them off.

Platinum Wheel Repairs in Warminster have done a great job if anybody from down that way are ever in need of thier services

Golf R Silver…. NICE!!!
It really pops against the black. Pictures don’t do it justice really. Was initially going to go for a Shadow Chrome but the lad that runs the place said that exact silver would give me the effect I was after, so I went with his more experienced judgement…and very glad I did!

Removed the drivers side sliding door card. On a caravelle. That's a job I never want to have to do again!!!

All so I could find out where water is getting in from inside the door.

Can see clear water marks coming from under the white plastic water catch tray. The hose is working as water comes out of it when I poor water into the door handle...

But it still seems to be leaking a little from the water catch. It seems sealed up still, but obviously not 100%.

This has obviously been happening for a little while as this was under the side step

A puddle of water and the starting of some light rust on the seam.

It's going to be massive pain to get to the water catch so I might just try and get some silicone sealant around the edge and the bottom and see if that seals it. If it doesn't that means it coming from nearer the front which means I'll need to dismantle the door lock and gubbins.

Oh and the sliding window channel drain non setting stuff has gone completely so that's another job to fix that.

Today I cut out the remaining windows on my van. I have to do this on the street so not ideal as all the neighbours want to come and ask me what I'm doing. Pretty nerve-racking. Yesterday I fitted the rear door windows.
Got to the point of offering up the glass and then I found out that my supplier has sent me one of the windows wrong  So I have had to board up one of the holes, but it is all trimmed and primed ready for the glass when the replacement arrives. I have started in earnest now.

Did the fix for when the dashboard heater fan will only run at full speed, ordered a new resistor thing which arrived yesterday then spent this afternoon working my way under the glovebox to dig out the old unit and replace it with new. Heater fan now works perfectly.
