What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Just spent 3 1/2 hours fitting ONE rear disc and pads using the Nutexa stuff I bought.
Plenty of plus gas was sprayed on and left and then I had the joy of one of the 12mm bolts rounding off.
So eventually had to give up conventional attempts and angle grind the head off the bolt. Then loads of jiggling to get to the 21mm bolts which were also well stuck.
Eventually got it off as one and managed to drive the remaining bolt through the caliper and then grind a couple of flats onto what was left to allow me to grip it and remove it from the slider pin.
Oh how I laughed.
Anyway, got to face doing the other side tomorrow-and I know it’ll be the same.

Friday - finished fitting my Fogstar battery, Victron DC-DC, Ablemail AMT12-2 and isolator etc. I’ve kept the CBE distribution board (DS300) and control panel for now. All works very nicely and should give me a big increase in off-grid time. Solar panel, MPPT and Victron mains charger to be fitted when I next have a free day (or 2) and dry, mild weather. Pic before I’d finished:

Pic of how I’d like it to look
(seen in a van at the NEC today)!!:

Hi @CAB I was looking at the mud flaps from veedubs but there was mixed reviews. Do they fit ok? Cheers
There was a recommendation somewhere I read to use the existing arch screws. However, the arch is stepped in there.

If you look at the top picture, you can see that I have cut a long vertical slit to allow the flap to be secured against this stepped in piece; I also trimmed the top to fit in the curve.

Easy enough to fit as long as you take the wheel off.

They sit quite well with having the lip that sits over the bumper, as you can see from the bottom picture. So far happy, will see what they are like after this weekend's trip out.

Brilliant, thank you for your reply

Looks great.
Will look even better with these.

Just done the disc and pads on the other rear corner. No seized and rounded bolts.
Here’s the state of the old disc.IMG_5893.jpeg
Then the shocker, as soon as I pulled the pads and saw this:-

IMG_5895.jpegIMG_5894.jpeg
I knew my caliper was seized and the piston face pretty much toast.
Anyway, plenty of plus gas and the piston wound back in easy and I cleaned the face up and we are now left with this.IMG_5896.jpeg
Brake cleaner has left a funny hue on the disc.

All I need to do now is try to get a garage who can fit me a new caliper before I head off to Spain on Saturday.
Failing that I’ll get a garage in Spain to do it.
I refuse to be derailed lol.

Edit:- I’m probs being lazy and should swap it myself. It’s only £100 from GSF. I just don’t have a bleed kit or any hose to make one.
Or much enthusiasm left lol.
There’ll probably be a post on here tomorrow of me fitting a new caliper.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered the THQ T6.1 Black LED upgrade with H7 LED Bulbs. Got my work cut out for the weekend.
Sick and tired of the yellow candles VW sold this vehicle with.

Not long but the bullet myself and was money well spent.
I went for the all black V3s with the LED bulbs and nightbreaker full beam. Great set up.

- Ignore. I see V1 is for T6.1 and V3 for T6
The difference is how the DRLs are set up and where the indicators are.
The V1 are the first ones out and they have progressed since then. They look quite different.
The V3 are the nicest in my opinion

So the T6.1 is stuck with he older type then?
