What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Got some Adblue & topped up.. also got a Fire extinguisher & first aid kit delivered ready for the conversion.
Spoken to a fitter, decided colours for the units, floor, bed, as well as the canvas for the pop top. Looking about 2-3 weeks to get it in.. hasn’t quite sunk in yet that it’s happening!
the anticipation is part of the joy - let it sink in slow hehe

Replaced my LHS H7 replacement headlight with no scratches, with a second H7 replacement, complete with scratches.

At least the DRL works!

Dab hand at removing headlights without full bumper removal now :grin bounce:

Set of old H7s available for spares/repair

Had noticed that the magnets securing the sliding door rain cover were starting to mark the paintwork so used helicopter tape at the fixing points.IMG_0187.jpeg So our humble self built van can pitch next to a fancy pants California it now has its very own name badge.

Haha - a Cali Loch must be a Scottish take on the Cali Ocean. :D

IMG_6428.jpegWell not me. Some complete tosser in a bmw.
Couldn’t wait to pass me even though I’d already indicated and pulled over. He tore past me cut me up threw up a stone and cracked my new windscreen
It’s bigger than a 5p so that’s another new windscreen. £65 excess.
W@nker.

Ouch! Is it repairable? Normally free or low cost via insurance company.

Turned the automatic rain sensor off, because it was driving me crazy
Had it on my previous (2013) vehicle, and turned it off, but was hopeful that 10 years on it might have improved. Nope!

According to the official blurb, you can choose different settings, depending on how sensitive you want the rain sensor to be, but I haven't got as far as finding out how exactly, and more to the point, why would I bother? For nearly 40 years I've had exactly zero problem figuring out when I need the wipers to clear the screen, and with a miniscule flick of a finger have never failed to achieve that. A case of a solution to a problem that never existed?

Unfortunately that's a common theme with vehicles these days.
I think we are quite fortunate in some respect that these vans as commercial vehicles only have a very minimum level of 'gizmos' that modern vehicle manufactures seam to think we need

To be fair, some tech advancements I have found to be genuinely worthwhile. Auto lights I like and would miss, and auto folding door mirrors have probably saved at least many scratches and probably worse. I rarely used the cruise control on my last vehicle, on account of rarely finding a long enough traffic-free stretch of road to bother. First time using it in my T6.1 I freaked out a bit when it seemed to have a mind of it's own - until later (on insistence by SWMBO ) when reading the manual I discovered that, yes, indeed ADAPTIVE cruise control effectively does have a mind of it's own! Who knew?! Now I love it, and recently drove from Lincolnshire to Merseyside with almost no right foot intervention at all (on a Sunday, I should add!)

To be fair to vehicle manufacturers (o_O), they're merely complying with current and proposed EU legislation. It's EU bureaucrats, pressured by the green and safety lobbies, that are driving the requirement for lane assist, autonomous braking, road sign recognition, etc.
