What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

IMG_6294.jpeg

Fitted the FitCamX front / rear and the Eberspacher EasyStart Web ready for winter, as last winter it annoyed me having to go out to the van to defrost etc.

Given it already has the pro controller, I’ve put the manual button where it can be reached from the rear as well.

Spent far to long wrapping cables to look OEM:

Ran the FitCamX to the leisure battery, but waiting on some parts before completing that.

Fired it up though, and the quality is great!

What is that soft clay like to use? Does it mar the paintwork at all? Looks mint btw so I presume not:thumbsup:
It’s really good.. just spray, rinse or whatever on your van, so it’s wet & do a panel at a time or 2sq feet, there or there abouts.. you will notice & feel the difference straight away.. squeeze & change around the clay bar as you go.. you won’t believe the contaminants that come out.. after you’re done.. give the van another wash.. you can dry it off & leave it, job done.. feels really smooth.
I sealed it.. bl00dy hard work that.. :p

Well its been on the todo list and had some time over the weekend....

Dead'n'ed the front doors.

All i can say is if you're thinking about a speaker upgrade, do this first (both inner & outer door skins), night and day difference on the standard speakers!
Have got some acoustic foam on the way for the door card (not sure i can justify covering these in dodo/silentcoat/dynamat) but will be whipping it all out again to add 10mm insulation/deadening to the outer door skin.

(3rd pic is not the finished article - forgot to take a pic)

As a bit of a result it reminded me about a door handle issue i had where the drivers door handle had not been fitted properly, Now I recon I could fully strip a door in 5 mins at a push

AND....
Only had one clip break on me, seems I now have 29 spare :slow rofl:

nice job! was it easy enough getting the inner door metal card out with the handle mechanism? Seen a few good guides on here, any tips?

Looked at it in the garage whilst it's awaiting further inspection.
Slave cylinder or master cylinder has gone tit's up n pear shaped.

Anyone looking for a very low mileage Tsi with new shiny bits put on it then feel free to DM me.

Seriously got the hump with the van.

yes, Dells guide on here was spot on, once I had it whipped off it was a breeze.

Top tip, remove the locking pin plastic and the rubber gator on the locking pin, dont worry to much on the plastic bit that is meant to be riveted to the door panel (I suspect its probably broken off anyway and it serves no structural / supporting purpose) just make sure you fit it first when re assembling and pop the bolts in first. To stop any rattles against the inner panel it was wrapped in fabric tape and a tiny bit of 5mm insulation for padding.
Also unless you are confident in doing it, wait until you remove the inner door panel to remove the clips holding the cables to the panel, likelihood is you will break them if you try this from the cable side. (aka follow the instructions).
Oh and the clips at the bottom of the door, get down there with a torch and it will all make sense, they need to be orentated so they are vertical (this might be 90 degrees, it might not).
I'll be whipping it all off again this weekend to fit some insulation on the outer door skin and acoustic foam on the door card  (hopefully the rain will stay away).
