Are the TSIs really that good? Despite some people's claims of 300mpg on a transcontinental run, most 150 TDI DSGs will long lerm average low 30's. Given the difference in fuel prices, I doubt there's much in it.
I had a transporter Tsi loaned when my van was serviced. Ended up keeping it for a week because some parts were not avalable.
Despite being a petrol I was not impressed. Quite noisy and the Dsg doesn’t know what gear to use.(map would possibly sort this).
And after a week and 580 miles the trip computer showed 19mpg ☹️.
I get 30/33 off my Transporter.

I've had my T6 about two weeks and I'm averaging 29mpg and compared to my bmw I drive this like my nan
Which engine, what size wheels how many miles on the clock, what type of roads? Long motorway runs, about town? Tail wind, head wind? What are you carrying. Questions questions.

I was quite interested in the tsi, less so after reading Parker’s review of the van. After 10k miles they averaged 24mpg and when they borrowed it to colleagues they couldn’t reach 20mpg. However with my loaner at speed between 50 and 70, the trip computer showed 34-35mpg where the diesel shows 42-45.
I recon it would be possible to reach 28/30mpg if you drive in this condition most of the time. There is probably a difference of 10mpg between a Tsi and the TDI in real world.

Motorway run, average speed 70/75 it hovers around the very high 20's.
Not sure if its a true reflection as I'm running 20", will that screw with the figures?
If I wanted economy, I'd have stuck with the Qashqai
I'm running 20s on my 150tdi dsg so wasn't sure if 29mpg was accurate or not.. But like my uncle explained, I'm driving a 2 ton van with the aerodynamics of a brick

Wow. I’m still getting early 40s. 2250kg without people/luggage. 102bhp, manual, with the 16” alloys.
That 102 engine map seems a good one for mpg. Long steep hill climbs when loaded… not so great.

My 110 t6.1 with 255 55 r18 falken wildpeaks does 33 on mixed runs but did a genuine 43 mpg over 3200 mile average in August in germany and Austria which considering we were quite full was amazing and that's brimming the tank when checking

Generally speaking, low 40's from my 150 kombi manual always on vpower and never short trips........but I have seen 70+ one day when all the holes in the cheese lined up! Just filled up at Wetherby and got blown (by a vicious Southerly before anyone says anything!) all the way back up the A1 to Thirsk.........sometimes driving something with the aerodynamics of a brick pays dividends!!

Low 40s is what I look for in our150 manual. Can be lower when regen happening
Ooooh.......I always know when mine's doing a regen!!! Seems to happen a lot.......just had to have a manifold flap thing replaced AGAIN. Ist one replaced under warranty at just under 5 years old.......that replacement lasted exactly 12 months.......so fortunately got replaced again under warranty. I just had to pay for a hose that was worn out......40 odd quid or so.........paid it cheerfully. Have to wonder why the flap keeps failing though......no short journeys.....no stop start journeys.......always gets up to temp, blah, blah, blah!

What's this manifold flap. Had our van for nearly 60year, and had no problems.

I'll dig out the invoice and tell you exactly what it was that was replaced..........again!

Thanks for the clarification.

My 2L TDI 102hp LWB 5 speed manual tranny 2018 T6 is currently averaging so far 28.6 mpg in mostly city traffic with few trips to the country. This is measuring liters bought against kilometres driven.

In road traffic I have achieved up to 35.5 mpg.

Reading your post can you please provide some V5 class clarification.

Mine is classed as a Van, so 60Mph is the speed limit I can legally go to on a MWay.
If your classed as a camper, you can go 70mph.

is this right
