Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

We've been to Grindlewald when we were staying at Camping Jungfrau. Where about's are you staying?

Oh and after 4 years of visiting all over Switzerland, I can say that there are parts of Germany that do live up to the Swiss scenery:thumbsup:
We stayed at Camping Jungfrau. Fabulous views but a bit too busy and crowded for my liking. Felt like we were all crammed in like sardines. I understand the business sense of getting as many people as possible but if we go again I would look for a smaller site.

So today was an 8 hour drive stopping only for fuel and a coffee.
Leaving Switzerland was a bit sad but THEN we were straight onto the Autobahn. 204 wild stallions were released and then the real fun began. BMW’s Mercedes all looked in amazement as they finally caught up with me and passed.
I did have to remember I was fully loaded with camping gear so top speed was limited to 90mph but breaking from congestion left many surprised Germans thinking how the hell did he pull away that quick in a VAN!!!
Once Lady Pippa has recovered from the trauma of Batvan vs Autobahn we found some nice quite roads and passed through some beautiful German villages. I have to say, they do keep their towns and villages immaculate.
All the houses look in perfect condition. It’s a real pleasure to see.

Arrived at our camp site in Kassel and we are the only Brits here. In fact, I never saw another British vehicle since I crossed the border.
The site is nice, facilities are ok, not fantastic but functional. We are pitched next to the river and the site is quite but close to a busy road.
We shall explore the area tomorrow and see what we find but for now it’s sitting outside with a beer.
Oh and it was 35 degrees when we arrived, dropped to 26 now. Sleep may be a struggle tonight but I’m sure some Desperado will help with that. ;)

Thanks @richi, her loss has been hard to take. Been 7 weeks now, found it difficult to mention it before. She was so photogenic, she knew the camera, and how to pose for it! If she could, she would have been the first dog to take a selfie!

Good for you guys. I love Germany, me. Been loads of times. There’s something almost comical about The Germans regimented outlook upon life. I remember being in Hanover, (could see the VW factory) and went to cross a 4 lane road, nothing coming at all, not a thing. Light was red, went to cross road, and this German woman pulled me back and sharply informed me that I cannot cross the road until I hear the beeps!! It was hilarious!!
But you’re right, clean & tidy country, the Germans take pride in their towns & cities. Good beer, simple well cooked food, efficient roads, and a complete lack of humour!!

So today we baled from Kassel.
The site was ok but a music festival was starting tomorrow and the place was filling up with youngsters in tents and boom boxes.
Felt my age but really not my scene.
2 hours down the road and just outside Hannover we found a lovely little campsite.
Park where you like around the lake, hook up, pub and restaurant along with all the usual.
And an added bonus we met the first Brits we’ve seen since entering Germany.
Few beers together in the pub, food and a good chin wag then back to the van for a bit of relaxation and catch up on social media.
I like these smaller sites.

2 nights then off to Hamburg and a Hotel to celebrate Lady Pippas birthday.

You should pass Ralph Schumacher's Karting track at Bispingen on the way to Hamburg,I used to have some great fun there:D

Loads to do in Hamburg, the Fischmarkt is always worth a visit on a Sunday morning for the live music and beer:whistle:

We are on a tight deadline to get to Hamburg as we are meeting family there for a function but that does sound like it would be good fun and my type of enjoyment.
