Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Minehead c&cc site pretty much empty now all the families have packed up. Been very nice a peaceful though even when full. Nice site with great views and walk into town. Nightmare finding a flat pitch though.

That’s as flat as it gets in Cornwall, hills are good as they keep you fit.

Afternoon at Lynmouth. What a cracking place. We will definitely returned here for a longer stay.
The drive from Minehead to Lynmouth via a toll road was one of the best routes I've ever driven. Going from stunning views over the moors to valleys to spectacular coastal views mixed in with what was like driving through jurassic Park.

I've often wondered what that place was like. I cycle past it a couple of times a week on my Montgomery loop.
Nice place, well worth it @ £9 per night / per person.
Fantastic views, if you can get the right pitch - 1st come, 1st served type of campsite
Good bacon butty cafe / van on site, open at weekends
What's not to like?

Also met another forum member pitched up on site - @Chiggo
Small world isn't it?

Where have I nearly been in my van today? Snowdonia camping at Nantcol Waterfalls that's where..
I was about to set off this morning and the sliding side door (not powered) decided it didn't want to close, bouncing off the locking mechanism. If I pushed hard enough at the lock it closed, but several minutes later it would pop open. Looking on the forum I am not the first with the issue. VW assist will be with me in approx 90 mins (they say). I might still get away!

We were there last week - walk up to Lynton nearly killed me off! Came back down on the railway as zero queue at the top. We were parked at the other end. Sadly a deer had fallen off the cliff and died - you don’t often see mistakes like that by wild animals.

Could have been worse and happened when you had got to the site, this is me thinking positively... I'll get my coat then?

My thoughts too. Also glad it was just before a one nighter that I can take or leave, and not the longer trips we are going on

About the dead deer, possibly chased by a loose dog, the same is regularly happening to sheep around the SW coast. Too many people regard the ’keep your dog on a lead‘ signs as applying to other people.

I doubt this as the top of the cliff looked quite inaccessible.

We have two dogs and I couldn’t agree more! Or better still coming out with come guff about their dog being really friendly when it rocks up to greet ours - yep, as we went out of our way to buy rabid, children eating monsters!!! That and not picking up the dog poo. (As for the idiots who then hang the poo-filled bag on a branch for the pop-fairies to collect later…?!!!)

@Nige_g. That happened to me not long after I got the van. Called VW Assist and he had the part on board to do the job (which says a lot!). A couple of months later, it happened again but I sorted it myself playing about with the internal locking latch and handle - sorry can't remember exactly what I did but, being me, it wasn't anything too technical. I'm probably putting the mockers on myself now by saying that I haven't had a recurrence!

Got to say I agree with everything you say ..... I am fed up to the back teeth of people letting their dogs run up to mine with them shouting “It’s ok my dog is friendly!”

My dog never goes off lead when we are out as I am fully aware the breed I own are known not to be over friendly with other dogs.

We actually seek out walks where we won’t come into contact with other dog owners.

I have a rule, if I own the field then my dogs off the lead - otherwise it stays on the lead. Lots of cattle in fields around here and zero consideration given by almost all dog owners!
