Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Just up the road from there (up towards the Beehive Inn).

It was probably our local councillor  - shoulda left her there.
Didn’t look like a councillor.
We are at The Fleece now, got dinner booked.
We re staying at the Riverside glamping site in the van. What an absolutely smart little site. All new and clean and well kept.
Like being on holiday only 14 miles from home.

You mean you just directed whilst someone else did it?
Some guy came running past shouting that a woman had fallen into the river. So off I went. He did cock all and I had to climb down to the river, step along all the stones in the river and get to her and haul her up and get her back up onto the path. Think she’s bust her shoulder.
Can’t believe you’d think I wouldn’t be in the thick of it.

.....can't teach that. Nice one

One night in Norwich! Not too far from home but we had tickets to the theatre to see Les Mis which was fab… so stayed at Whittlingham Campsite, but in a Yurt. Had to light the wood burner… chilly night for a change! Nice little site only 30 mins or so walk into town.

Shoulder bust before you laid hands on?;)

Seriously though, nice one mate.

A morning visit to Chatsworth House to have a nosey around the “Burning Man” sculptures.
What impressed me most though was the size of the Dukes log store.

I wonder how many camping fire pits he has for that lot of wood?
Bugger the fire pits - that wood could cater for all my heating needs for the rest of my days!!!

Left Brizzle at 6am this morning and currently parked up near Clatteringshaws Loch in the Galloway Forest Park.
First day of me and the dog bumming around the West Coast of Scotland. No firm plans, nothing booked, just taking each day as it comes, will be gradually heading north up the West Coast.

Correct breed to be travelling in Western Scotland!

Ha ha, yeah, she'll be West Highland in the West Highlands (don't tell anyone but she was born in Box near Bath) :think smile bounce:
Our Pembroke Corgis were born in Lancashire but we do have a Lancashire Heeler who was born in her home county.

Now arrived further down the Croatian coast at Camping Split Stobrec (as you might guess from the nam it's near Split!). Another typical Croatian / European site. There's a lot of pitches (I think 400 odd) but a lot of them are quite large. The one we're on at the moment is plenty large enough for the van, awning, table and chairs plus a massive disco tent if we were into such things. As all the others, close to a nice beach but no view of it. We got off to a shaky start when we were put onto a very small pitch supposedly for one night until something bigger became available. In the end, we saw some people vacate their pitch and asked reception if it was available for the next week to which they replied yes. We loaded the van again, and settled on said pitch. No sooner had we got everything organised , including putting up the Vango Kela awning in 30 degree heat when we were told that there had been a mistake and we had to move on Saturday. Thankfully, we found another (better) one earlier today (again, saw people drive off) and are now relocated - I've decided that if they say there's been another booking error, they can go forth and multiply as we're staying put. One thing I will say is the Croatian mossies are evil b'stards. I've been well chewed up by them (but, as usual, they've stayed away from the rotten meat aka Mrs AJ). We're now about 1400 miles into the trip and have't decided where to go next yet.
Further to my post above, I lied about the lack of sea view as I noticed this morning that you could actually see it if you looked straight through the front windows of the Swiss registered T5 (with roof tent) parked behind us. That said, the beach is a bit too crowded for my taste. Apologies for the poor quality of the first picture but I've got a new camera and not quite mastered the art of differential focus with it yet - must read the manual at some point.

Chateau du Gandspette, last night of camping in France this year. Chance to top the leisure battery from the solar panel during lunch before an afternoon walk to the Blockhaus just 20 mins away.
Needed a blast of the diesel heater during the night as it got a bit chilly.

They sell it, think I've paid for the re-guilding of the gold windows at Chatsworth about 5 times over.

Got fed up with the kids arguing and generally being noisy at home, whilst I wanted to watch her majesty's funeral and procession to Windsor Castle. So..... a quick drive down the road to the only New Forest car park I know that has 4G!

The Lake District, and Borrowdale. Her indoors dad and wife and his sister's are staying for a week so we went to visit. They all live in the south of England and we live in Scotland so it was nice to see them all after a few years.

On the drive home we got to do two good favours. As Adsa was closed for fuel I had to put fuel in at the service station north of Carlisle. A lady and her young child asked about the lack of loo paper in the shop and the server just shrugged. So I gave her our unused van roll. Then later on at another services outside Glasgow we spotted a sole lady driver moving her dog out the boot and into the front of her car, before looking out a jack. So me and the missus walked up and asked if she needed help. She had hit something on the road which tore her tires sidewall so we helped her by changing her wheel and getting her back on the road.
