Calella de Palafrugell today for day after a quick stop at Lidl for a shop. The weather was meant to be raining but it was glorious.

Some of the smells of the seafood coming from the restaurants next to the beach, oh my... And I'm not a huge seafood fan! I settled for some gelato!

Then... The weather turned. A thunderstorm appeared over the land and even though the wind was blowing onto the land, the storm clouds were heading to the beach. I made my escape, getting to the van just after it started raining heavily. I'm glad I did as this was the situation about 20 minutes later...

Literal rivers running down the streets, water 1-2ft deep in some places. I'm parked up at a free municipal motorhome car park tonight near Sa Riera and you can see where the water has run down the streets, leaving mud and sand behind, and dug a 2ft hole where it's hit the beach at the bottom!

Edit: this was about 5km from where I was staying yesterday...

2nd edit: this is one of the beaches in my pictures above!

It was a beautiful day. A bit too sunny for the fishing and the water was low but had a great day.
My pal landed a salmon about 5lb I had a hold of 2 salmon and lost them both.
I did see a real big female adder. That’s the 4th one I’ve seen this year.

Checking in...

I'm now in the south of France, in Cassis staying at a 'quirky' campsite (the only one in town) called Camping Les Cigales.

The van is filthy, inside and out! It's currently sporting a nice two tone 'dust' grey to black. Oh and about a million big strikes on the front end!

I am 2500km (1500 miles) in mind you. The £220 I'll pay a detailer when I get back for a full deep clean will be worth every penny!
I was feeling exhausted and not very motivated last night and today, so after an extended lay in (10:30am) I did some chores (washing up and clothes washing) then walked down to the town.

It's, well... VERY 'south of France'. Walking past the (absolutely rammed) harbour side restaurants I feel very underdressed in my smart Animal t shirt, smart Next shorts and flip flops!

It's very, VERY pretty here (and very, very windy) but I'm not sure it's entirely 'me'.

I did consider a hike to the Calanque d'En-vau but it's a 45 minute hike, and probably an hour or more from the town. Maybe another time.

I'm currently staying here one more night but I could easily extend that. I was considering a day tip to the Porquerolles island on Monday, I'm undecided yet.

One thing, I certainly didn't expect to see any Jack and Danny in the centre of Cassis!

A quick cross border raid into North Wales just outside Chester. Had a lovely walk to a derelict castle, then back to the van for an early tea and wine. Nice clean site, if not a little boggy after the rain!

I’ve more pics to attach but they are too big (24mp) for the forum, any idea how I reduce file size?

I use this

Currently enjoying a croque monsieur and a pain of chocolate at a roadside boulangerie somewhere between Cassis and Toulon.

I literally said to myself 'I could do with nice boulangerie right now' and 30 seconds later this one appears...

You now have us poor guys working today googling 'croque monsieur' in Birmingum... Upper Crust at New street Station is the place, sending one of the boys now!
