Which Is The Best Dash Cam ???

Good day to you wise bunch. Totally new here. We’ve just got out first van. T6 already completed. Bloody love it
I’m sure this has been answered, but need some assistance navigating the mine field of dashcams.
Looking for a front & rear cam system. I’ve looked around & reviews vary so much. What are you all using and what’s your honest opinions.
I’m leaning towards Thinkware but the more I read the worse my decision making gets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I use Thinkware these days after Blackvue stopped selling a front unit with a large screen and PIP for the rear cam. More than happy with mine so much so I have one in each van

Thanks. Which model do you have out of interest?
This one:

When I was running my Shuttle full to Europe a couple months ago I could switch to rear cam mode and set it so it was permanently on view (usually I have it set to go black after 30secs). Meant I still could see out the rear of the bus.

Prefer them without a screen personally, I had a Blackvue front and rear in my van when I had it but if I was going to do it all again I'd get one of those new ones that fits into the rear view mirror housing, nice and discrete.

i have a fitcamx looks and works great link

Yeah, that's the one.

I've got Blackvue for 2 cars (because I've had them for ages) and Nextbase 522GWs in the other car and the T6.
They both do the job. I can turn the Nextbase screens off, which is desirable. The wireless connection on the Blackvue is better than Nextbase and the Blackvue companion app is (IMO) better than Nextbase's.

Which blackvue do you have?

Can't remember, sorry - they are both at least 10 years old.
One is a single channel, full HD but without WiFi - possibly a 450 series. It records GPS coords
The other is also run as a front only camera has WiFi and also GPS. Maybe a 650GW

They've been really reliable. I also put a 650 in my dad's car but he reckons that it was 'no longer supported', whatever he meant by that, as both of mine will still show data in the Blackvue app

So, I've read this thread from the comments posted in 2019 onwards and, TBH, I found it quite depressing, especially the YT vid that said (paraphrasing): all dashcams are equally sh*t.

I'm looking for a front dashcam for my car (not van) and my overriding requirement is the capture of high quality, usable images, day or night. Unless anyone knows better, I *think* I'm looking for a 4k dashcam with a CPL filter and a Sony Starvis 2 sensor.

I don't need any of the add-on services and fancy options, but I am prepared to pay for them to get the image quality I want.

Anyone got any suggestions on suitable models?

TIA

I have liked my black view. Installed early 2020. It has now failed, which is a bit of a bummer. Since then they have changed the power lead so I now need to run a new power cable. I believe the coax cable that links the front and rear cables are still the same - hopefully. A bit disappointed really but apparently dashcams are a consumable. Think I would consider replacing the SD card every 2 years to see if that helps prevent the problem again…

Any of you wise geeks out there know how to update a mico SD card Thinkware F770 from an IMac?
I've managed to download the latest onto my mac from Thinkware and inserted the card which appears on the side of the screen which I've opened...now what? Nowhere does it say 'format' 'update' or anything similar...trawled through Thinkware website...you tube..and google and cannot find any answers.
Cheers in advance.
